Check Out Kim Hayes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Hayes.

Kim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The Alpha & Omega Farm Story

Alpha & Omega Farm is a small family farm in Central Minnesota owned and operated by Kim and Brad Hayes.

Kim and Brad purchased the farm in 2014 with the goal of preserving the land and keeping it active. Over the next several years, they worked to restore the property, build gathering spaces, and slowly shape a vision for how the farm could bring people together.

Kim brings a long background in restaurants, hospitality, and leadership development. Her career has focused on building strong teams and creating welcoming experiences for guests. Brad spent many years as a teacher, where he developed a passion for mentoring young people and helping them learn practical life skills. Together, those experiences shaped how the farm operates today.

In 2020, Alpha & Omega Farm officially opened for business with wood-fired pizza nights. What began as a simple idea, serving pizza outdoors on a farm, quickly grew as friends invited friends and word spread. People were looking for a place to slow down, share a meal, and spend time together in the countryside.

Today, the farm operates as an agritourism destination hosting:

Wood-fired pizza farm nights

Weddings and private celebrations

Corporate retreats and team gatherings

Goat yoga and seasonal farm events

Chef dinners and community experiences

Food is at the center of the experience. Whenever possible, ingredients are sourced from local farmers, growers, and producers and featured on the farm’s wood-fired pizzas. Supporting local agriculture and highlighting regional ingredients is an important part of the farm’s mission.

Alpha & Omega Farm also employs local youth each season. For many, it is their first job experience. The farm focuses on teaching practical skills like teamwork, responsibility, hospitality, and customer service. These experiences help young people build confidence and lifelong skills.

The name Alpha & Omega reflects the cycles of farming and life. Beginnings, endings, and everything in between.

At its core, Alpha & Omega Farm is about community, good food, supporting local agriculture, and creating opportunities for the next generation while bringing people together on the land.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Biggest struggles – outdoor events and weather. Opening the farm was difficult with permitting and licensing. It’s a unique business model, we have built it through trial and error. A struggle we have is that legislation that prevents us from obtaining a liquor license.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Love Pizza City podcast – we were featured in 2024. Love any cookbook, I get my pizza inspiration from pastas and other dishes that aren’t necessarily pizza. – The Cuban pizza is based on a cuban sandwich….
