Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Holifield
Hi Kimberly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had a passion for bringing people together and creating unforgettable experiences. My journey in event planning began in the 1990s in Chicago, where I discovered my love for curating events that weren’t just gatherings but memorable moments. What started as a passion project soon turned into a calling.
In 2007, I officially launched Glamlife Events & Parties, a full-service project and event management company specializing in event planning, logistics, design, and décor. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of planning and designing for major brands, corporations, and community organizations, including Essence Magazine, Minnesota Black Chamber of Commerce, Build Wealth Minnesota, People of Color Career Fair, Celebrating the Sistas, and many more. I’ve also worked extensively with 899 KMOJ FM, where I’ve planned and executed events that uplift and celebrate the community.
Beyond event planning, I’m also a mental health advocate. Through my own experiences, I’ve seen how deeply mental health impacts our lives, especially in communities where it’s often misunderstood or stigmatized. I use my voice to encourage open conversations, break down barriers, and empower others to seek healing and understanding.
I’m also expanding into media, launching two new shows. Girl, You Did That, a podcast with my co-host Pep Talk Tae, is all about celebrating women who are making bold moves and inspiring others to do the same. I’m also co-hosting 2 Beauties and The Fox with Pep Talk Tae and Your Favorite Silver Fox, Rob Malloy—a dope and entertaining show that combines relationship talks, entertainment news, and throwback music, all while keeping it real and fun.
Today, Glamlife Events & Parties continues to grow, creating top-tier events while also serving as a platform to inspire and uplift others. My mission is simple—turning visions into reality, one event at a time, and leaving a lasting impact on every space I touch.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Despite the successes, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges—staffing shortages, funding gaps, and the ups and downs of entrepreneurship have all been part of the ride. But resilience, creativity, and my commitment to excellence have kept me moving forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At my core, I’m a visionary and a storyteller—whether through events, media, or advocacy. As the Founder and CEO of Glamlife Events & Parties, I specialize in full-service event planning, logistics, design, and décor. From corporate events and galas to weddings and brand activations, I bring creative visions to life with precision, elegance, and an unforgettable touch. I’m known for creating experiences that not only look beautiful but feel intentional, leaving a lasting impression on every guest.
What sets Glamlife Events apart is the level of detail, passion, and personalization that goes into every event. I don’t just plan events; I craft experiences that tell a story and create moments that resonate. Whether it’s transforming a blank space into a breathtaking scene or ensuring seamless execution from start to finish, I make sure every detail aligns with my client’s vision.
Beyond event planning, I’m a mental health advocate, using my platform to foster conversations about mental wellness, especially in Black communities where these discussions are often overlooked. I share my personal journey to encourage healing, self-awareness, and breaking generational cycles. This advocacy work is deeply personal, and I take pride in creating safe spaces for dialogue and growth.
I’m most proud of the impact I’ve been able to make—not just in my career but in the lives of those I touch. Whether it’s through a well-executed event, an empowering conversation, or a shared experience, I strive to uplift, inspire, and leave a legacy of excellence.
Any big plans?
The future is all about expansion, elevation, and impact. I’m focused on growing Glamlife Events & Parties into a nationally recognized brand, curating my own larger-scale events, and eventually securing my own office space that will also serve as a creative hub for youth programs like the Glam Girlz Youth Initiative. I’m also the Minnesota Chair for Girls Who Brunch Tour founded by the amazing Dr. Ni’Cola Mitchell out of Atlanta, Georgia. I want to continue creating experiences that bring people together, whether for celebration, education, or empowerment.
I’m also making waves in media as a radio personality and show creator. I host a Sunday night radio show, Back in the Day on 899 KMOJ. I’m currently working on a new radio show that I’ll be co-hosting with Pep Talk Tae and Your Favorite Silver Fox, Rob Malloy called, 2 Beauties and The Fox and I’m also launching Girl, You Did That, a podcast with Pep Talk Tae that highlights and celebrates women making power moves in life and business. Expanding in this space allows me to merge my love for entertainment with my passion for storytelling and connecting with people on a deeper level.
Another major focus is my work as a mental health advocate. I’m planning to do more public speaking engagements, particularly with youth, to share my story and spark much-needed conversations around mental wellness. I want to create programs and events that make these discussions more engaging, relatable, and solution-driven.
Ultimately, my goal is to continue building a legacy of excellence—one event, one show, and one conversation at a time. I’m excited about what’s next, and I know that everything I’m working on now is laying the foundation for something even greater.
