Check Out Leah Beack’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Beack.

Hi Leah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It was fall of 2020, and we were heading into the first holidays of the pandemic. There was a lot of confusion and anger everywhere I looked, and I was curious if there was a healthy way to release the pent up anger and anxiety we as a collective were feeling so I Googled ‘Rage Room’ and was surprised to learn that these establishments existed! Fast forward to the following summer, and I was tired of being angry, so I tapped into a time in my life where I felt the most happiness, and that was when I was teaching dance in my 20’s. Movement, art, and kids learning in a positive environment were all things I wanted back to being a central part of my life, and Emotion in Motion was born! For the first two years of the business, we did mobile splatter painting experiences exclusively, where we take out our large tent, play lively music along with a light show, and work with kids to create one-of-a-kind creations.
We never forgot about the Rage Room idea, and in the spring of 2023, we found a space that was open to taking a chance on the idea, and we’ve been at it ever since! We offer multiple experiences in the space, Splatter Painting Birthday Parties, Rage Room Experiences (where participants put on protective gear and are given a crate of breakables and go into a room and use tools like crow bars and sledgehammers to break some stuff), company parties, Bachelorette parties, and other types of celebrations. We still have our mobile experiences as well, and do different events when the weather in Minnesota is cooperating.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been lots of pivoting and re-inventing ourselves and finding new markets. Being open to listen to other people’s insights about what we’re doing has been incredible valuable. We’ve done thing wrong along the way, and people are generally kind and want to help, so being open to other people’s advice has helped us find new and interesting ways to keep us growing and busy.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The Rage Room is pretty unique, we are one of two in the state of Minnesota. The splatter painting experience is unlike any other as it removes all obstacles & perceived barriers to creating art. Throwing paint and glitter at a canvas is something anyone can do, and each canvas ends up being it’s own masterpiece.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always pretty tenacious, and I owned my first business before I turned 20. I’ve been a serial entrepreneur and have owned 5 different businesses over the course of my career (dance studios, photography studios, and a sign business), but this one has been my favorite adventure so far!

Pricing:

  • The Rage Room Experiences starts at $25/person.
