Check Out Maria Jose’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Jose.

Hi Maria Jose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for photography started in one of the classes I took in my communications major in college. The sanding still, looking though a lense, finding beauty in what goes almost invisible to others, teaching your eye to capture the beauty, all of it that happens right in front of you was something breathtaking for me and a new concept as well. As I started learning more about this new world, I dipped my toes into all, r almost all its branches, food photography, product photography, studio photography, baptisms, christenings, and then weddings. It was at my first wedding, which was btw the wedding of the mom of one of my dearest friends, who lit the spark in me to know that is what I wanted to do, that is what I wanted to document, all the rollercosters of emotions that a wedding day wraps. With that first spark it was like a dynamite string hat only grew bigger as I continued (and still am) to lear more about the capturing of the moment, of the mindfulness of being present, of enjoying the ride with my couples and capture more of them, more of their souls more of the intangible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I believe very much so in learning from every little or big challenge you might be presented with. As you grow, in tis business or in any other for tat matter, you will discover more of the business itself but most importantly about you. And the beauty of it is, as you both are growing, you unveil new challenges, some a little trickier than others, but nothing you are not ready to overcome for the step you are in then.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a fine art documentary wedding photographer. I go wherever my couples tell me. My main focus is for my couples to enjoy every part of their day, since the begging to the very end while I will document mindfully everything that happens. I thrive making my clients feel like they are in Vogue magazine while also being fully present in their day.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
While my place of residence is Chicago, I have the fortune that my clients take me to Minnesota to photograph their day. This past year I visit there, and I was in love with the city, their food, their vibe overall.
