Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Stark
Hi Molly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Art has always been a big part of my life since as early as I can remember, Ive been drawing. After high school, I studied and worked as a massage therapist, which taught me the ins and outs of tissues, muscles and general human anatomy (which I am fascinated with). I loved doing massage and connecting with my clients through touch but I was definitely longing to express my creativity and explore more of my personal self-expression. I wanted to still be able to connect on a deep and personal level with others and for me tattooing met all of those elements, so it came very naturally into line for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Getting here was very challenging. Some of the obstacles included stepping into my apprenticeship during the height of Covid, remaining confident in my skills while being surrounded by so many amazing artists and of course the financial strain as an apprentice was extremely difficult, but in the end it has all been so worth it, to be doing something I love so very much. Everyday is a different experience with a different way of challenging me. I am honored and grateful to be apart of this industry and trade.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in anything to do with nature, ornamental, abstract as well as bold and fine line tattooing. I am always looking to expand and hone my skills. As someone newer to the industry I am still learning my style and expanding my brand – I will always consider myself a forever student in this practice.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The overall outcome of every piece, the satisfaction of my clients and the relationships I’m able to build along the way. The ability to practice shadow work and turn pain (both physical and emotional) into beauty gives me great joy.
