Today we’d like to introduce you to Renée Cloutier.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Looking back at my childhood, there were many clues connected to my psychic abilities from a very young age, but the most acute experience wasn’t until age eighteen when I intuited vivid details of a friend’s death at the moment it occurred, without being near them or knowing it had happened. The intense nature of this super-sensory experience, and its accuracy, marked a key point for me and psychic hits began occurring more frequently.
In my twenties, I began playing with energy reading (my friends and I jokingly referred to it as the “neat party trick”), eventually leading to a stronger desire to deepen my understanding of it all. I began exploring additional practices and self healing therapies, spiritual counseling, craniosacral therapy, zen style meditation, crystals, yoga, nutritional cleansing, energy healing, and overall body-mind-spirit wellness.
To gain even greater clarity and control, I studied Psychic Development with incredibly supportive and inspiring teachers, Echo Bodine and Leigh Hopkins. Shortly after completing these studies, as my Grandfather was nearing the end of his life, I was woken late in the night to find an Archangel and two ancestors announcing that his time was very close – naming the date and time he would pass. They came to deliver this news and request that I assist him through the process and relay messages to him and my family. I wrote down every divine instruction and every word of the messages they revealed. Five pages worth. I was terrified of judgement, angry that I was being asked to “work” when I just wanted to grieve, and unsure of what would unfold. Despite this, I followed their direction and reluctantly shared the information with my mom (grandpa’s oldest daughter of five truly influential women in my life, but that’s another inspiring story). I went to his bedside, held his hand and whispered the words I was given to help him move on from his pain and this plane. I went home, cried, waited, and soon received the call that he had passed – on the date and time that the angel had given.
Just three days later, my Grandpa came to me in spirit, thanking me for what I’d done for him and would continue to do for the family. He said, “Renée, you are destined to help others in this way. This is what you are meant to do, and I am asking you to do it.” The power and love that came through his words gave me new faith and clearer purpose. That was it for me. A turning point and the point of no return. The very next day, I “came out of the broom closet”, as I like to say, and began offering Readings professionally. (I mean, when Grandpa serves up a shot of truth like this, it pulses through your veins and you act without delay.) Over the following year, I continued building the foundation of my business, with Grandpa Bill’s wise words and loving winks from the other side continuing to guide me, and in 2012 I officially launched my practice. What started with only Psychic Medium Readings has now evolved to include so much more. I am blessed beyond measure for every opportunity to support others in this way and I look forward to all that’s to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, my! Is any life path smooth from start to finish? If so, I haven’t traveled it! (wink)
Absolutely, I have encountered struggles along the way. The fear of judgment that I mentioned in the last question… that was likely the first culprit to appear. It was loud and frequent and took different forms. Sometimes it was in my own mind, asking “what will my family think-feel-say?” At other times it came from strangers, “Wow, you’re a psychic? You look so… normal!” Then there were more serious occasions where I was on the receiving end of name-calling and finger-pointing and pushy requests to “prove it”. (Umm, hard pass, thank you.)
Of course, I have been challenged in other ways too, like time management (that’s a big one for me), money management and maintaining boundaries. I’ve struggled with determining a fair monetary exchange for the services I offer. I’ve hemmed and hawed whether to remove or add “this or that” service. I’ve stepped up and forward and then fallen back into old patterns before eventually landing at a sweet spot with balance. I’ve had to strengthen my backbone, my relationship with Spirit and my ability to recognize when to go with the flow rather than resisting when the unexpected “shift happens”.
No matter the height of these or any other hurdles, they have all pushed me to know myself and my calling better. To know others and meet them where they’re at better. The struggles have gifted me with looking inward and healing through it (over time, rinse and repeat, then repeat again). They’ve provided opportunity to tweak that which needs tweaking, to learn and grow and hopefully bloom. All allowing me to not only trust in my ability to navigate any situation, but help others navigate their own and bloom, too.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I translate divine messages and insights that will bring forward the guidance, healing and peace you’re needing most. I offer this through Psychic Medium Readings, Reiki Energy Healing, Guided Meditation, Oracle Card Readings and more. I always welcome special requests; Space Clearing, Animal Communication and Animal Healing (horses light me up like a beacon!) are a couple examples of work that I frequently do but you may not always see them listed on my menu.
Reminding you of your innate gifts, abilities and power; bringing you home to the truths in your heart; assisting with problem solving and growth; teaching techniques and tools suited to your needs; shining a light on what you might be missing and what change or healing will benefit you most; gently embracing you through transformation (I will also gently embrace you if ya just need a damn hug, with permission of course); supporting and nurturing you on your path in these ways is something that fills me with immense joy and I am committed to doing so with considerable compassion, care and candor.
My “Combo Session”, offering two or more services in one session, is my most popular and my personal fave. It not only brings forward divine guidance and insights for you with the Reading, but can also reveal where healing is needed so we can focus on this with the Reiki energy healing. It can be a very therapeutic deep dive, where we get down to the root cause of pain, blocks or unhealthy patterns, clear up that which needs clearing and pave the way forward, discerning action steps that can positively change your whole trajectory. I am often awe-mazed by the powerful shifts that occur, with many feeling like sacred ceremony.
I abso-freakin-lutely love what I do. I am always aimed at doing it well, adapting and evolving as needed, and holding high levels of integrity and authenticity. But I can’t take credit for the magic, beauty and mind-blowing moments that occur in session. Those are Spirit, the Divine, God, the Universe (insert your higher power here). The highest of heavenly hosts and your personal spiritual team (your loved ones, ancestors, guardians and guides) are having a jam session, just for you, and I hold the honor of interpreting it all and assisting in their work as directed. And after our time together in session has closed, what you do with your guidance and insights… well, that’s all you and you deserve credit, too.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
So many things pass through my mind in answer to this question. But when I drop out of my head and settle into my heart, I feel success as a culmination of little celebrations that just may add up to grand victories…
Finding balance between work and play, give and receive, think and feel. Choosing love over fear and freely giving of love over fear. Extending patience and grace to an individual in need. Choosing to nourish and connect – body, mind, spirit – upon waking rather than reaching for a phone or device. Freely sharing your energy, time, money, talents with the community or collective. Feeling a natural smile come to your face when paying the bills. Being comfortable in the “not knowing” and trusting in what you can’t see coming. Hugging a tree, dancing in the rain, getting messy and enjoying it without a care of another’s opinion. Leading by example, speaking up, taking up space, being terribly afraid yet doing the damn thing anyway.
Lessons learned over time, big and small, can prompt change that forms fresh habits and practices. Recognizing, understanding and applying this often; seeing the gift, the opportunity within hardship, and implementing it; breaking free from limitations; can lead to a life and world experience that is fulfilling and supportive.
Living, and being, in an abundantly blessed and balanced state – not just in wealth, but in health and joy, peace and ease – with open eyes, an open mind, and an open heart… this to me is Success.
