Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Warland.
Rob , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our family opened our first Bricks and Minifigs in Roseville in February of 2024 to teach out kids about work and create a place that sparks joy & creativity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a business isn’t a smooth road, but we didn’t expect that as the outcome is worth it. Building awareness in a new market has been what we’ve been working on. Most people know about LEGO, but most in the area don’t know that you can buy, sell, and trade LEGO.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My wife’s background is in finance and operations & mine has been in organizational leadership, personal development, and community outreach. WIth decades of experience in these areas, we have been able to start, grow, and sustain a new business. It’s important to us to show our kids the value of work as we believe we were designed to contribute to society through our work. With joy and creativity at the center of all that we do in our mission, it’s been very satisfying to create a space where that is a reality for kids and adults!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Our family’s focus has never been about making money, but rather unconventionally finding ways to invest in each other and our community through shared experiences. Knowing how much the city of Rochester is known for helping people, we are going to do the same. We currently partner with the Ronald McDonald House to donate LEGO sets to families, give to them financially, and host monthly events for families who are staying at the house.
