Today we’d like to introduce you to Sidney Knaak
Hi Sidney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Sidney Claire, I am currently 20 years old and pursuing my dreams and goals of becoming a model, content creator and youtuber all while living in the beautiful city of Minneapolis Minnesota. Back in 2023 I was asked to be a part of a photoshoot, the weight that community and creativity had on me lit something under me that couldn’t be put out even if you tried. In November of 2024 i moved out of my moms house to live on my own in the city and that’s when inspiration hit like never before. The feeling was comparable to moving to New York at the time for me. I had this city that I could restart in and sculpt the person who I wanted to become. I’ve always had a passion for the camera ever since I was young and the love has only grown greater over the years. I had the idea to start content creation in July of 2024 and at the time it seemed impossible, but through staying consistent ive been able to become a brand ambassador for brands and stores, gained a huge online community and support and have made prioritizing myself turn into self care and love not a chore.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being part of a constantly growing industry rejection and challenges are not out of the blue. My modeling career is a prime example of how rejection could have gotten in my way but pushing and moving forward is always a better option. September of 2024 I remember telling myself that I want to take modeling seriously. From there I took headshots and submitted to over 20+ agencies desperate to hear back. When I did it was no, after no after no. Rejection was hard for me at first to accept because I took it personally. But the lesson I had to learn was “ you have the power to turn rejection into ambition “ and work even harder for the goals you want. I started reaching out to photographers and taking test shoots to grow my portfolio and I did this event in November of 2024 called “ FINDYOURMUSE “ a event where aspiring models, creatives and photographers can come and network and I felt like a star. I even had a photographer tell me I was meant for this and that one day she’d see me on the cover of Vogue Magazines. I know now that rejection can be as personal as you make it and we have the control to turn that into determination to reach those goals we have set in place for ourselves despite people telling you “ No. “
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a versatile creative. I take pride in my content on instagram and tiktok! I cover everything under the sun such as fitness, traveling, lifestyle and fashion! This past new year it was my goal to create and start a youtube account and i did! My proudest moments would definitely be setting goals and accomplishing them. It proves that I really do want to see the success I dream of and that I’m willing to make it happen.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I hope that representation in agencies can become more open. I’d like to see everyone be given a chance to chase their dreams and in the next 5-10 years it looks like all heights, weights and ages. More inclusive!
