Today we’d like to introduce you to Tailor Briann.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography was a form of art that I found through other hobbies of mine. I’ve always admired people’s ability to capture moments and create stories through their lenses. I would always say “I can do that” During the pandemic of 2020 I decided to explore that curiosity and it turned out to be a real talent. I started off with self portraits of makeup I would do on myself and I began asking friends if they would let me photograph them. Fast forward to a year and a half later and it’s a full time business for me. My clientele is continuing to grow and I couldn’t be more grateful that so many people believe in me and trust me with capturing important moments & milestones in their life.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. One of the biggest things I would say is the pressure to keep up with others in your field because of social media. Thinking there is only one standard or way. When in reality art is subjective. I’ve learned to take obstacles as they come, but I’ve never had a hurdle I couldn’t jump. I remember getting my first client and it was the only client I had for about three months. I got extremely discouraged and questioned whether or not it was really my calling. I decided to focus on the art & creativity regardless of whether I was getting paid or not.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a photographer located in Minneapolis, MN. I specialize in beauty, editorial, & portrait work. I am most proud of my ability to obtain knowledge about my field so quickly and apply it to my own work. I would definitely put my work in a category next to my influences and mentors. I believe what sets me apart from others is the way my colors stand out in my work, as well as the way I make skin look like it’s made of gold. I would say that I am a jack of many trades and those art forms are assets to my photography work. I also believe the amount of growth that I have had in one year and never having prior experience or education to now being a paid professional speaks volumes to my capability.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am very introverted, I would say everyday me vs. artistic me are two completely different people. I am very much a minimalist & simple in my everyday life which I would say is very opposite of my brand and artistic work.
