Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd Peterson.
Hi Todd, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Living in Thief River Falls, MN I was the youth pastor of my home church. I was given a call to come be the Pastor of a rural church in Fertile, MN in 1996. After 3 years and some things changing in my life I decided to resign and start a landscaping business, which I saw a need for. In May of 2000 I started Todd’s Landscaping and let’s say the rest is history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. I have learned a lot about how to run a business thanks to a great man that came along side me in 2007 and mentored me through how to run a business. I have had employment issuses like everyone else in small towns in Minnesota. Always had a dream and it took many years to finally start to achieve that dream.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love the fact that landscaping is not just about fixing or maintaining a yard it is a chance for the homeowner to express themselves and I get to help with that. Coming to a yard that is just dirt or in disarray and take a creative approach to it. Then look back after we are done and see the improvements and what has been accomplished is a feeling I can’t even explain. What sets apart from others is doing everything so you don’t have subcontractors to deal with, which makes the homeowners happy. Taking the time to do things right the first time.
What does success mean to you?
I have been told I am a success story from starting from nothing (I didn’t go to school for this) and have grown to the company we are today. I don’t feel that way. I am always striving to be better. Success to me is having my customers happy and knowing I am providing for not only my family but the guys who work with me their families as well.
