Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Stillman Hage.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My path to the Esthetics Industry was not a straight one. In my early 20s, after graduating from the University of Kansas, I was diagnosed with Chron’s Disease. My body had become an obstacle to the life I wanted to live. Instead of beginning a career, like many of my peers, I was thrown into the crazy journey of healing my body. Healing my body turned into a path of healing the mind, body, and spirit. Learning and discovering the power of the subtle energy body was life-changing and the practices of yoga, Ayurveda, and acupuncture became a large part of my lifestyle.
As time passed, I continued to follow my passion for wellness and took training in Reiki and Thai Yoga Bodywork, alongside raising my two young children. I decided to go back to school, esthetics school, once my kids were in full-time school themselves. I thought that I was taking a break from wellness by starting in the esthetics world, but I was surprised to find that wellness could be front and center. Bringing healing and wellness into my esthetics practice has been such a beautiful and rewarding experience. I opened the doors to my treatment room, Nuna Esthetics, in July 2023.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, the biggest struggle for me was quieting the fear. Becoming an esthetician, let alone a business owner, was a leap of faith. I knew that I wanted to offer my community something that I have sought after myself, and that meant creating it. Staying grounded, asking for help, and following my intuition continues to guide me in all that I do.
I am immensely grateful for the support of my husband, family, teachers, mentors, fellow female business owners, and clientele. Opening a small business, post-pandemic, is not for the faint of heart. Every time someone chooses to come through our doors, know that you are in the care of hands filled with love, light, and gratitude.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Beauty that is skin-deep fades with time. True radiant beauty comes from a place that cannot be touched but nurtured. Our name, Nuna, is the amalgamation of “Nurture your Nature”. At the heart of every service we provide, clients are given the opportunity to unplug, breathe deeply, and connect to their natural unfettered beauty.
Nuna Esthetics is a treatment space offering nourishing facial treatments, advanced practice skin services, facial and brow waxing, as well as lash enhancement. We carry Environ Skin Care products, Banyan Botanicals Ayurvedic Tools and Products, Elleebanna Lash products, Esthemax Masks, as well as Starpil Wax.
The offerings at Nuna Esthetics continue to evolve as owner and AP Esthetician, Allie Stillman Hage, continues to pursue opportunities to expand her education. Allie has been certified in Buccal Facial Massage by Anastasia Talon, owner of Kosha Spa. She has also had the opportunity to learn Lash Lifting Techniques with Yumi Beauty in Beverly Hills, CA. Most recently, Allie was immersed in the study of Ayurvedic Treatments and Methods for Natural well-being and Beauty on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada with Ayurvedic Practitioner, Kelsey Brusnyk, owner of Illumine Ayurveda & Yoga.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
The women in my life are incredible. I come from a long line of strong women who have overcome great difficulties, yet still were able to make their lives beautiful.
