Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Cox Zuppan.
Hi Amanda Cox, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Finding My Place in Real Estate
Thirteen years ago, I never would have guessed I’d end up in real estate. I had spent 17 years in the hospitality industry, and I felt stuck—working long hours, underpaid, and definitely underappreciated. I knew I loved helping people, but I didn’t know what to do with that.
Someone suggested real estate, and my first reaction was, “I have no interest, I’m not a salesperson.” But once I got started, I realized quickly that real estate wasn’t about sales at all—it was about relationships, and those, I knew! In this job, I got the honor of holding people’s hands as they navigateed through some of the biggest moments of their lives.
I’ve celebrated as first-time home buyers got their keys, watched families grow through marriages and babies, and played tour guide when new jobs brought people to town. I’ve also held people through the hard stuff—divorce, death, foreclosure—and been there to help them as they cried, mourned and moved forward. One of the moments that will always stick with me is helping a recovering addict buy a home after living on the streets. Watching someone achieve something they never thought possible is humbling in a way I can’t put into words.
Real estate has stretched me in every way. I’ve learned to problem-solve, to get creative, and to lead when situations felt impossible. In class I learned how to measure square footage and identify a Corinthian column—but on the job, I learned about people, resilience, and community.
For me, being in this business has never just been about houses—it’s about people’s lives. Every closing isn’t just a transaction; it’s a milestone, a victory, or sometimes a much-needed second chance. And being a part of those stories is what keeps me going every single day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This career choice definitely isn’t always smooth. There’s really no such thing as “off time” in real estate—we’re on call every single day. We work nights, weekends, holidays. I’ve worked through being sick, worked remotely while traveling overseas, and even negotiated deals from a hospital bed after surgery. I was back at a listing appointment just seven days after giving birth!
I’ve missed birthday parties, family gatherings, and had to cancel more plans than I can count. It’s a constant balancing act between being there for my clients and trying to be present for my own life and family.
On top of the schedule, the work itself can be an emotional roller coaster. We navigate multiple-offer situations, affordability struggles, rising interest rates, inspection issues, financing falling apart, and all the strong emotions that come with people making huge life changes. Every deal has its challenges—whether it’s problem-solving around a home’s condition, negotiating terms, or just helping clients manage the stress of it all.
It’s tough but even with the chaos and sacrifices, I love what I do, because at the end of the day, I’m helping people through some of the most important moments in thier lives!
As you know, we’re big fans of LPT Realty,LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in residential real estate sales in the State of Minnesota, specifically the Twin Cities metro area. I work for a national company that gives me extra support and ongoing education
.
To find that ever elusive “work/life balance”, I have brought my sister on board this year as a real estate partner and together, we are able to give double the love to our clients while being more present with our families!
What’s next?
In the future, I would love to continue to use my career platform to make a difference in my community and the world! We currently do “Sell a Home, Feed a Child” by sponsoring to feed a child in the clients name for a year for every home purchase or sale.
I serve on the board of my local Realtor Association where we host committees actively working with politicians and charitable foundations to make housing more available and affordable as well as volunteering at many local charities and community-building events. I would love to further my work with these committees and spread the word to others in my industry to do the same.
