Community Highlights: Meet Angela Zoerb of Green Witch Curations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Zoerb.

Hi Angela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From when I was a little girl, I have loved spending time creating in the kitchen. Helping my mom make Holiday cookies, bars and treats of all kinds to share with our friends and neighbors. In the summer I was standing on a stool at my grandmother’s sink, pitting cherries for preserves and pie. We were out in the road ditches picking chokecherries, elderberries and plums. Our holiday family dinners would not have been complete without hot crescent rolls, made from scratch and rolled with little hands. Baking has always represented love, family and joy for me. We made everything! Cookies, pies, cakes to top off huge family dinners!

My journey with cannabis began as a young adult and turned me into a lifelong advocate and enthusiast. My eye opening moment was when I quit smoking tobacco and turned to using cannabis edibles. The difference it made for me post tobacco was incredible. I found healing and support through this amazing plant and I decided to combine my two favorite things! I have been baking edibles for myself for twenty years. I use the cherished recipes from my childhood and infuse them with cannabis.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a small business is never a smooth road. From the initial concept to now, I changed the business model several times. Just trying to break out off the shadows and having potential customers find me was tough. I made it with the help from my canna community. I would not be here if it wasn’t for CannaJoy, homegrowers, BP Seeds and Simpatico.
This is also a business with a lot of stigma attached to it. It’s hard to draw people in and say “trust me with several hundred dollars worth of your stash and I promise the result will be worth it!” It took time for news to travel.
It’s tough to stay relevant and compete with other bakers too. I try to offer what they don’t by doing a curated product. The hurdle with that is time. It takes time to extract and infuse correctly. The other is potency. It’s difficult to get guarantee or estimate potency. I hate for people to be disappointed, so it can be a challenge letting them know how potent their stash came to when it wasn’t what they were expecting.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Green Witch Curations?
“We Bake Magic” Is our tag line. I hope I do that for people! As of right now, I’m just a home baker taking classes to learn more. I’m not a professional chef or patisserie. I do cupcakes and bars but specialize in cookies. I like to do fun and interesting flavors then name them weird things. I create treats for the individual. You aren’t forced to a premade product, you can chose what treat and how potent, it’s entirely curated.
My business model is designed to not sell cannabis, just use what people bring me. I would love to expand in to a full bakery with infused offerings. Still working on that vision! I’m the most proud of my canna community and how they have supported me! It’s absolutely stuffed with amazing people! I might have to ask others what I’m known for, it could be anything from delicious cookies to having green hair!
I want people to know that cannabis is for everyone, no kidding, not being mushy or existential. It has so many applications other than the stigma it carries. It calms, offers pain relief, sleep, coping, quitting or loss. Whatever the malady, this plant offers help. I want to be a positive ambassador for cannabis. I am here for questions and concerns and if I don’t know the answer, I will find it. I hope people come to see me with an open mind and heart, no expectations or judgement.

What matters most to you? Why?
Happy people matter most. I want to spread joy with what I do. I mentioned being an ambassador for cannabis. That is at the front of my business model. I want to help educate and also remain humble. I don’t know everything there is to know, I’m learning more every day, but I have resources in the wonderful community that supports me. Removing the stigma and bringing social equity and education to cannabis is so important. I hope we never loose sight of that here in Minnesota, we have put that at the front of legalization.
