Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Vandehey.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was working for a car dealership in a small town in Washington State. I felt like I was made for more. I was playing xbox with my friends, when one of them told me this. “My mom has been an insurance agent for 40 years, she loves it and thinks you would be great for the role.” I appreciated the offer but was uncertain about moving as this opportunity to be, meant moving away from family. I decided to bet on myself and moved to Illinois, where I learned from a long term agent. He showed me all aspects of agency. When we both felt I was ready, I looked for someone who was retiring. An office in Rochester was having an opening. I interviewed for the position and got it. 2025 was the inception of my agency. I have my Fiance, Ronni working with me. She decided to take the plunge with me both in life and in work. I had a great understanding of business before deciding to become an agent. I am self taught in business. Ronni and I enjoy being with friends, being outdoors on hikes and enjoying nature.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every situation always has difficulties. We have to make the conscious decision to do what we feel is best given the situation that is presented infront of us. Moving to a place where no one knows who you are is always tough. Navigating that with a spouse definitely helps. I had a business plan I had conducted before opening my own agency. Long nights, early mornings, always thinking how can I mold this to be more optimized. There have been difficulties between what you feel the standard will be vs what the outcome is. In all regards, some have been exceeding while other aspects have been behind. Understand the problem, address and adapt. Then move on.

Our agency manages residential and business insurance policies. We range from Auto, Home, Recreational, Life insurance on the residential side. For business insurance we offer a multitude of different policies ranging from liability, building, workers compensation, etc. I take pride in my work ethic, from when I worked part time at UPS as a teenager, to running my own business. I have always been honest and passionate. Price is the number one consideration with insurance followed by service. I am confident in our service, only one way to find out if we are better on price.

I enjoy being involved with the community and giving back anyway I can. When Ronni and I are not outdoors, we are playing xbox together, watching movies, or playing with our cat Pepper.
