Community Highlights: Meet Caro Bruni of Midwest Plant Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caro Bruni.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Caro Bruni. I’m a wife, mother to 3 children (Santiago, Lucia and Mili) and professional. I hold a degree in architecture. I studied in the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was born there,  and in 2003 I moved to Barcelona, Spain alongside my husband and little boy for work. After 7 amazing years in there, my family and I decided to move back to Argentina once again. Funny enough we spent 7 years there before moving to the US, so I guess you could say 7 is our lucky number. I got the opportunity to explore and work on different areas such as interior design, graphic design and even upcycling furniture. I’ve always been a plant lover, and one day an opportunity came knocking at my door. A small interior landscaping business was in need of a new owner after 35 years and there I was! I worked hard on the business with the unconditional support of my family. Midwest Plant Studio is an interior landscaping company that brings peace of nature into businesses and homes, refreshing the air and mind. The business is located at the International Market Square in Minneapolis. Our customers in the Twin Cities and surrounding the Metro area have trusted us to improve their spaces since 1984.

Midwest Plant Studio is a woman-owned business, our plant technicians and I personally attend to each of our customers, building close relationships with them.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There really have not been many struggles throughout this journey. When I first acquired the business, I was a little nervous about how the road would look ahead, but the environment and the people I’m surrounded by really made me feel comfortable and confident in the work I do. I first took the business during the Covid 19 pandemic which might’ve seemed like a challenge or risky, but the lockdown gave me the possibility to get settled in and accustomed to my new work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Midwest Plant Studio is based in the International Market Square in Minneapolis since 1984. We provide the quality of a large interior landscape company with the attention and care of a small business. We have a team of long-term employees and our clients have the same plant technician each week.

Our specialty is creating the appropriate atmosphere and image with living or artificial plants. Whether it is in an office, mall, hotel, retail store, home, or other spaces. We are experts at enhancing the appearance of commercial and residential spaces with plants. Our clients expect and receive exceptional service. Our in-depth know-how and meticulous attention to detail in planting and maintaining impressive interior landscapes have made us a leader in our field. We are a green, organic-using, and earth-friendly company.

The plants we install and maintain are a reflection of us as much as they are of our clients. That’s why we take special care during every phase of the interior landscaping process.

Before of install the first plant, we visit the space to check all factors affecting the plants, such as, lighting, heating/cooling, traffic flow, and interior design. We then develop a plan using plants that will complement the facility and thrive in it. We can work with the designer or directly with our customer.

What makes you happy?
My family and my friends make me happy! I enjoy spending time with them and creating new memories. In addition, working with plants brings me joy! I am very grateful to have the opportunity to combine all my knowledge in design, thanks to my career, with nature in each proposal and space I do. Every time I get to work with a new client’s space, I visualize it as a whole and see how each element in it plays a fundamental role when choosing plants and containers. Plants bring a huge difference in a space for people, it gives them a piece of nature, fresh air and calmness. When I do the proposals, I always think about that, how plants can make a difference in the before and after, enhancing the space. Being the one responsible for that change and upgrade makes me so happy!

My job connects me with an array of wonderful people. And it allows me to feel a little more connected to the community here in Minnesota every day.
