Community Highlights: Meet Chad Johnson of Fitness Bodhi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Johnson.

Hi Chad, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My fitness journey started when I was in my early late teens, sort of exploring various interests. Found my passion in fitness and loved sharing what I had learned. Yet, I thought I had to grow up and get a real job. I continued college, started weightlifting clubs and groups as I completed my studies. Joined the military as a medic to pursue my interest in human body. Completed my college studies, my military career and settled into a desk job for close to a decade. My life tossed me a curveball, well 3 exactly; father passing, divorce, and laid off all in 3 months. That stung but stung my butt into action. From that point, I started to develop my plans to create Fitness Bodhi and learn more how to help people that are on their fitness journey. Now years later, I have developed a training practice and helped a few hundred people with their goals. I work with a variety of clientele from youth to elderly, people that move like a cheetah, and those that struggle to take a comfortable walk. I pride myself on help people change their body. I love my work. I love my clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is never smooth, but it is how you address the issues, problems, and challenges. I have lost swaths of clients at a time. Covid was challenging and cost me much time with clients. I adjusted and made plans to work with clients online, it gave me a chance to clean up my business and really work with some clients that need extra attention. Fortunately, my overhead costs are fairly low so I don’t have the same challenges as a common brick and mortar. But before that, when starting out, identifying what I exactly was doing and how to help clients was my biggest challenge. Identifying what I do. That was a tough question. I help people physically move better, increase overall strength and improve their ability to perform challenging physical tasks. Knowing that has helped me know how I can help people.

There have been so many more challenges yet many are small and mundane.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Fitness Bodhi?
Read my google reviews as this will tell you much about what you should know.

Movement dynamics is my core specialization. This is understanding how the muscles flex in relation to the skeleton and how that affects movement in the body. Commonly people have movement patterns that cause them to use their muscle in a specific way. This can be from weakness, injury, habit or other physical challenges. My job is to make people work better.

I am also known for my enthusiasm and energy, but you can ask clients or read reviews regarding this. Let’s just say, I get excited when working with clients. People love this about me.

My superpower, clients will talk about an uncanny ability to see the inside of their body when they are doing exercises. this translates to understanding when people “feel” the work, pain or labor.

My passion, it drives my work ethic and it shows. Some clients have been with me for years and still are excited to come every session.

My Know-How, I have over 10000 hours is the gym and another 5000 training clients. This has translated to learning a wealth of knowledge which I directly use with my clients every day.

That I am exactly what you get. I have no gimmicks, no programs, you get my knowledge at your disposal.

When looking for a quality fitness coach be aware that there are few and far between. Look for a good combination of motivating comments and a willingness to make you uncomfortable. Your coach should also be touching base with you once or twice throughout the week, checking in on your mood and body condition.

Fitness Bodhi has training package for the beginner who may just be learning about weightlifting or an advanced athlete looking to perfect their lifts. Yet, those with injuries and movement pattern challenges will find Fitness Bodhi a good guide on how to live better.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Minneapolis is a great clean city that has a great park system. We enjoy the green spaces and outdoor time on the weekends. We visit the farmers’ markets and various festivals throughout the summer. Definitely the outdoors!

The least, sharing the city is getting more challenging.
