Community Highlights: Meet Chrissy Bohnhoff of Frontier Liquor/ Sick Bastard Streetwear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrissy Bohnhoff.

Hi Chrissy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I purchased my Liquor Store, Frontier Liquor in 1998. Myself and my now deceased husband Jim, purchased it. It was the liquor store down the street from our house and the one we frequented as customers. We looked for a business to purchase for about 6 months, and finally settled on this one. Jim was sold on wanting to purchase a bar. I had worked in bars my whole life until that point, and definitely knew that was not a business I wanted to own. So we compromised on a liquor store. We both ride Harleys, and Jim had quite the collection of vintage ones. We decided to display several of them inside the liquor store. We also happened to employ several young, beautiful ladies at the time. That is how BEER, BOOZE, BIKES & BABES came to be. That is our official motto and logo, and what we are highly recognized for. We sell Frontier Gear with that motto and many others.
In 2020, Sick Bastard Streetwear was created. I was working out in my gym at home during all the covid shut downs. I was looking at some old pictures on the wall, of Sturgis Trips from the early 2000’s. There was a group of guys we had met out there that were from Washington State. They called themselves the Sick Bastards. We would party with them for several years in a row, and became honorary members.
Fashion has always been my background, and what I studied in School. I thought to myself, that would be a great name for a clothing company. I took the idea to my now 2nd husband Mike and he loved it. We made the mutual decision to start the company. We started with 4 designs that we created and now have produced around 40 more. We also have ventured into caps, beanies, leggings, cups and many more items.
We have an online store at www.sickbastardstreetwear.net and we also do about 12 to 15 events during the spring, summer and fall months. We go to Mud Bogs, County Fairs, Demolition Derbys, Rodeos and Biker Events. Those are some of the events we attend each year. We have also ventured to Arizona and Arkansas in the colder months.
In April of 2025 I started a podcast from Frontier Liquor. We taste test new items that we sell within the store, and experiment with new cocktails to try. The name of the podcast is Beer, Booze & B.S. Each podcast we host a new guest to join us. My first guest was my good friend Paul Schwefel. We did so well together, I asked him to continue to co-host with me. The dynamic between the two of us is fun, light hearted, and down right hilarious at times. Beer, Booze & B.S. is available to watch on youtube at www,youtube.com/@beerboozeandbs. It is also available to listen to on all major podcast stations, including Apple, Spotify and I-Heart. https://feeds.transistor.fm/beer-booze-b-s-podcast

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not a smooth road. I was a bartender and Jim was a construction worker. I had nobody to teach me about banking, taxes, profit and loss etc… I made many costly mistakes over the first 10 years of business, as I had NO idea what I was doing.

We’ve been impressed with Frontier Liquor/ Sick Bastard Streetwear, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Frontier Liquor is a retail Liquor Store in Zimmerman, MN. We are very unique. We have old classic Harley Davidsons within the store and lots of pretty girls that work here. I am very proud of our Brand which is BEER, BOOZE, BIKES & BABES. People ALL over Minnesota know that brand, and When We are out and about in Minnesota, and tell people where we are from Zimmerman. We always hear, Oh thats that town with the liquor store who has all the cool old bikes and hot girls. We are set apart from everyone because of our theme and motto.
Sick Bastard Streetwear is a streetwear brand that is Edgy, Rebellious and Non- Conforming. We are an America proud, military supporting, freedom loving, clothing company. All of our designs are designed by me. We not only make a product, we are a brand.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I am turning to the podcast industry to promote and talk about new products, and cocktail recipes. It is a new avenue that I am taking by storm, that no other Retail Liquor Stores are doing, that I am aware of.
