Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Gonzalez.
Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For years, I watched people—friends, clients, and even myself—get stuck in the endless cycle of dieting. There was always another rule to follow, another plan to try, and another promise that *this time it would work.* What I saw most often, though, was not freedom or health, but guilt, shame, and frustration.
As a dietitian early in my career, I thought my role was to provide structure: calorie targets, meal plans, and strategies to “fix” eating. But what I witnessed was that this approach only reinforced the very struggles people were trying to escape.
That realization changed everything.
I began to ask a different question: *What if the problem isn’t the person, but the diet itself?*
That question led me to the non-diet, weight-inclusive, intuitive eating approach that defines my work today. I no longer see myself as the “food police” or someone who tells clients what they can and can’t eat. Instead, my role is to help people reconnect with the wisdom of their bodies—learning to trust hunger, respect fullness, and rediscover joy in food.
Now, through my private practice, I offer individual and family counseling, lead intuitive eating support groups, and provide professional speaking and educational events. My mission is to help people step away from the sidelines of their lives and back into full participation—without diets, without guilt, and without shame.
Because freedom from food rules isn’t just possible—it’s life-changing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! And I wouldn’t change it for a thing. The journey has been exciting and challenging both professionally and personally. I have always been somewhat of a rule follower and aimed to please those around me so when I chose to step away from my traditional training and challenge the “status quo” of the healthcare system it wasn’t always easy.
Overtime I built trust from my colleagues, referring healthcare providers and patients. I knew the new path I was taking was right from my own personal experiences and from what I was observing with my clients. I focused on listening and validating peoples concerns about a non-diet approach and staying curious and non-judgemental along the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Erin Gonzalez Nutrition?
At Erin Gonzalez Nutrition, I specialize in helping people heal their relationship with food and their bodies. My approach is non-diet, weight-inclusive, and rooted in intuitive eating. I work with individuals, families, and groups—supporting those recovering from disordered eating, chronic dieting, or just wanting freedom from food rules. Alongside one-on-one and family counseling, I also run Intuitive Eating Support Groups and offer professional speaking engagements for schools, companies, and community organizations.
I help clients rebuild trust in their bodies and find confidence in making food choices that work in real life—not just in theory. What makes my work unique is that I blend clinical expertise with deep compassion and empathy. I know the struggles are messy and nonlinear, and I create a safe space where clients feel supported every step of the way. I have helped clients who felt their trauma was just to complex, too messy and they would never get to a place where they could have a healthy relationship with food. But I have seen this process work over and over again and there is nothing that makes me happier in my work then hearing my clients share eating experiences they thought they would never experience without food fears.
I’m proud that my brand represents freedom, compassion, and empowerment. Seeing clients go from constant self-criticism to being able to enjoy meals, wear what feels good, and live without food guilt—that’s the heart of my work. My brand isn’t just about nutrition—it’s about helping people reclaim their lives.
I want readers to know that support with food and body image is not just about “eating better.” It’s about building peace with food, self, and life. I offer:
Personalized Counseling: Individual and family sessions tailored to each person’s needs.
Community Support: Intuitive Eating groups where connection and healing happen together.
Beyond Sessions: Practical worksheets, reflection tools, and secure messaging so clients feel supported between visits.
Speaking & Education: Workshops and presentations that empower audiences with tools to challenge diet culture and embrace intuitive eating.
Ultimately, my message is: you don’t have to sit on the sidelines of your own life. Healing your relationship with food is possible, and it opens the door to a freer, fuller, more joyful way of living.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
There is nothing worse than feeling like you are stranded alone on an island! Finding a mentor was key for my professional progress and although I did ultimately pay for case consultation it was money well spent. Having another person who can assist while learning a new process serves you and your clients in maximizing time and resources.
