Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Schwind.
Hi Erin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started in the advertising industry on the client and agency side. First working at Target in their marketing department out of college. I got my feet wet and gathered great experience in advertising project management and print buying. I then worked at Fallon for a year on the new business team. Helped them win their first piece of business in quite a while. I then moved over to KNOCK and was their Director of Creative Services for 5 years. After a number of years hiring external Producers I noticed that there was a need in the Minneapolis market for more production services. There is an amazing creative community especially in the photography world in Minneapolis. I wanted to do what I could to keep more creative projects in Minneapolis vs it going to other studios for the photography. From this Code Creative Services was born. We will celebrate 10 years in business this August.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every project brings a new set of learning moments. No one photoshoot is like the other. Between myself and my team, we brainstorm how to best solve problems. Covid had a huge impact on our community. We were totally shut down from shooting for almost 3 months. During that time I consumed any and all information about how to best run a photoshoot in a safe manner. We all had to learn to pivot and do our jobs a bit differently but have been able to achieve the same end results of beautiful photography.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Code Creative Services?
Code Creative Services, founded in 2012 by Erin Schwind, is a Minneapolis-based full-service photography production company. “Code” is a rule for converting a piece of information into another form or representation. Code Creative Services handles all aspects of photography production. As your Production Company, we provide timely responses, experienced insight, a high level of detail and organization in order to help you with your workload and make your ideas come to life. All of the Producers on the Code Creative Services team have both client and agency experience. This gives us a well rounded view point to understand our clients and their needs since we have been in their position before. Its helps us to understand the “why” of their asks. We are most proud of our expansive client list. We have been blessed to work with so many clients in all areas from food, clothing, electronics, medical, beauty, etc.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Culture. Minneapolis has such great food, arts and theater. You can learn and experience so much in all areas of life. We are lucky to have so many fortune 500 companies which helps keep our economy going in down times. The overall cost of living is reasonable. An international airport so you can get anywhere in the world pretty easy. We can experience what anyone would living in a large city! It has been sad to see all the turmoil Minneapolis has gone through in the last two years. I hope we can continue to rebuild the areas that have been damaged both physically and emotionally from the civil unrest.
