Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimie Shrestha
Hi Jaimie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I actually started with a career in broadcast advertising and although I enjoyed that line of work, I quickly burned out with the long hours and stress.
I had always been interested in bodywork and alternative therapies. When we moved back to Minneapolis after living out of state, I decided to pursue that interest. I went to look at a school that taught both western massage and Japanese shiatsu and signed up the same day!
After graduation I worked in a couple of chiropractic clinics and began to work more and more with clients who were pregnant, trying to get pregnant or who had just given birth. The more people I worked with, the more I wanted to learn and went on to get more education on fertility bodywork, prenatal bodywork and postpartum bodywork.
I became completely self employed in 2021 and have never looked back! The longer I work with this client base, the more I love it!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The transition from traditional therapeutic massage and shiatsu to prenatal, postnatal and fertility bodywork happened so organically that it just felt natural.
One challenge that I face is that a large percentage of my client base sees me during pregnancy. I offer general prenatal massage as well as breech balancing and induction massage.
Because I’m seeing these clients up to and even after their due dates, there’s going to be last minute changes and cancellations.
Ebbs and flows are common in most customer service careers though and even more so in a specialized field but I love what I do and that makes it all worthwhile.
As you know, we’re big fans of Jaimie Shrestha Massage Therapy . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a self employed massage therapist who specializes in prenatal massage, postnatal massage, fertility massage, therapeutic massage and also shamanic reiki.
I’m probably most known for my pregnancy work though, especially my breech balancing and induction massages. This is some of my favorite work to do!
Each session I provide is customized to the needs and wants of my pregnant clients. I pride myself on providing a safe, supportive and welcoming experience to each client that I see.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I absolutely love living in Minneapolis! I enjoy hiking, camping, paddle boarding, swimming and all things outdoors. And Minnesota in general has all of this!
As I’m doing this interview it’s currently -13° outside. The bitter cold of Minnesota in February is really the only thing I’m not a fan of.
