Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Ketcham.
Hi Jean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Aging but Dangerous is an internationally acclaimed movement for women focusing on healthy aging and living life dangerously with fun, spirit, and style! We inspire women aged 50, 60, 70, and 80+ to control their destinies and make their dreams come true. Our mission is to help you develop your limitless potential!
Jean Ketcham is Aging but Dangerous. Years ago, she made the conscious decision to live a life of fun, spirit, and style, and she’s never looked back. After retiring, Jean discovered that 55+ women were not living up to their true potential. Their social circles were shrinking and their lifestyles were becoming less stimulating and less adventurous. That’s when Jean, founded Aging but Dangerous and committed to making a difference.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The pandemic has definitely forced us to think outside the box and pivot our business. Our audience loves in person social events and that was taken away during the pandemic. Luckily we have a great team and we were able to navigate and find other ways to reach our audience ( social media) and spread our message of positivity and inspiration.
When it comes to working with companies and getting our message out, it has always been a challenge. When you have an audience of aging women people do not want to invest in them. Like we always tell people, Baby Boomer women comprise nearly 40 million individuals who control the majority of all disposable income in the U.S. (upwards of $230 billion in consumer sales annually). It’s a market that can’t be ignored, and one in which Aging But Dangerous is wildly popular. Our women trust us!
We’ve been impressed with Aging But Dangerous, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We began organizing meetings where women could connect and share experiences, insights and strategies to help them enrich their lives. We bring in speakers on a wide variety of subjects to empower women to take control of the aging process; we also produced special events like 55+ fashion shows, skydiving outings, and an infamous “colonoscopy party.”
Aging But Dangerous has over 190,000 followers on Facebook from over 30 countries and all 50 states and it continues to grow. We also have our own line of products which are all available on our website www.agingbutdangerous.com
Any big plans?
We would love to host more live and in person events as people start to get comfortable. Our audience loves us and we are all social beings. The energy in the room when you have 500 strong women is something you cannot replicate or do online. We are also working on an Aging But Dangerous book which will be out in 2022.
