Today we’d like to introduce you to Levi Siljander.
Hi Levi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My background in construction began with hands on projects at home, which evolved into three years of residential framing after high school. I eventually transitioned into law enforcement, serving my community as a police officer for nine years, but my passion for construction never left me. After returning to the industry for three years as a project manager for a custom home builder, I saw the perfect opportunity to launch my own company. Today, I combine the discipline of public service with my technical expertise to personally deliver the high level of care and quality I believe every homeowner deserves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s had its challenges, but I believe the work comes easier and quicker when true care is given to the quality of the product. I believe my customers see it, and almost all of my work has been through referrals. The hardest part has been managing the behind the scenes items, such as taxes, quotes, logistics, scheduling, etc. while still being the one on the jobsite doing a lot of the work.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We specialize in residential remodeling, specifically structural work, basement finishes, and decks. Aside from those, we also take on projects to include new garages, additions, windows/doors, siding, and so on.
What sets us apart is the marriage of craftsmanship and professional transparency. I personally oversee every detail on the jobs while managing the “behind the scenes” logistics with a level of precision that is often lacking in this industry. I want to eliminate the “contractor chaos” that homeowners have come to expect. I’ve carried a philosophy over from my law enforcement days: I want to extend the same care and respect to my clients that I would expect a police officer (or now, a contractor) to show my own mother.
I’m most proud of the fact that our growth is driven almost entirely by word-of-mouth referrals. It proves to me that we are delivering a quality product and our customers are staying happy.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Stay driven! It’s a competitive business, and it takes a lot of early mornings, late nights, and weekends to continue the growth and manage the jobs. But it’s very worth it. When I was starting, I would have loved to have a mentor to help guide me through some of the things I was new at, like managing the books and taxes.
