Hi Margaret, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spent years disliking my fine, thin hair and wanting it to be better. At first I made several attempts ordering online without success, then I visited a couple of shops and was still disappointed. Eventually I got so frustrated with the lack of help that I decided to become the solution. I started working towards opening my own wig shop and on August 14, 2018 I opened my store in Thorp, WI and helped my first client.
Months later I approached my sister, Eileen, who had been working as a talented nail tech for 30 years. She had her own salon suite and I thought she might be interested in joining me in the alternative hair world. February 2019 she started seeing clients at the Woodbury, MN location of Main Street Hair Solutions.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening a business and keeping it running is no small feat. I was bound and determined to not only stay afloat but to actually grow and succeed. I didn’t pay myself for over a year.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Main Street Hair Solutions?
We help people who are in need of a hair solution, whether they’re dealing with hair loss issues or just want something for convenience or fun. We carry wigs and toppers in synthetic fiber and human hair.
Our client’s travel from all around MN and WI, and even surrounding states, because we are known for our incredible service and quality products. Clients are seen by appointment only which enables us to focus solely on them and provide a safe and relaxed space.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m not so sure about luck. I believe God has provided a way for me to help others. When business is good I give Him the credit and when it’s slow I thank Him for giving me some time to catch my breath.
