Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Stanich.
Hi Shaun, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I fell in love with photography around 2012 and started by taking wildlife and landscape photos and have had a passion for it since then. I slowly worked my way into portrait and from then I started photographing weddings.
When I started I wanted to take photos to show people the everyday things that they were missing and help them to see more in life and not just the hustle of life.
I absolutely love photographing people and the memories they can hold onto forever, it’s a memory that they will cherish and will bring them back to the day of the photoshoot.
I have recently found my way back to wildlife photography over the winter. I wanted to be outdoors more often instead of being “stuck” indoors, I wanted to find the winter adventure.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning of my portrait photography, it was a struggle to get clients. I knew I had to advertise and get people to recommend me. As a beginner, you don’t have the money to advertise or the clients to recommend you. So, I knew I had to start off really cheap “free” to get clients and to get practice. Once I had clients coming in I could start charging and when I was bringing in enough money I could advertise. It’s a painful process but a person just has to keep going to get to where they want to be.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My work as a photographer covers a few areas. Weddings- As a wedding photographer I love to capture the moments for the bride and groom so they can look back and remember the day as it happened. I want them to see their reactions of themselves all the way down to the guests.
Senior Portraits- Senior portraits are great and challenging at times. Some want to include a sport, musical instrument, or just something that was part of them in high school and that they were proud of. I want to capture that for them.
Wildlife Photography- The hardest of them all. It’s a waiting game. They say right time and right place, that’s because we sat in that spot for quite a while to capture the animal. Have to do your homework and figure out patterns of the animals’ behavior and try to be ahead of the game. Once in a while, you will find something to photograph going down the road but you still need to know what you are looking for in the area.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Have fun doing what you are doing and remember the world is a masterpiece waiting to be captured.
