I never thought I would enter the real estate industry when I was younger. My entire life, my direction was set on becoming a lawyer. That was the path I was working toward, but like so many people, I never expected a global pandemic to shake things up the way it did.
At the time, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of my next step. My brother had been in real estate for a few years, and he saw potential in me. He encouraged me to give it a try, and I’m so glad he did. From the moment I started, I realized how much I loved it. The ability to help people navigate such an important milestone in their lives, the fast-paced nature of the business, and the opportunity to constantly grow—it all just clicked for me. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say my journey started off smoother than most, but as my career progressed, new challenges arose. When I first got my license, I was fortunate to join a team of experienced agents, who provided incredible support and guidance. That foundation made my entry into real estate much easier.
However, over the years, I’ve faced my share of difficult situations and obstacles. Like many independent contractors, adjusting to the lack of structure compared to my previous jobs was a challenge. But I’ve always chosen to take a positive approach. Before my mother passed, she would always say, “Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.” I took that to mean that I should work hard to achieve the best possible outcomes while also educating myself on potential setbacks. That mindset has helped me navigate the ups and downs of this business with resilience and confidence.
