Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Freiborg.
Hi Tina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was never comfortable being in a regular 9-5 job or being a rule follower, so finding a career path was difficult. When I graduated high school, I decided to go to business school to make my dad happy and hold off on deciding what to do for a while. I received my business degree in 2011, but the only job I loved was bartending, so I decided to keep working at that throughout my twenties. When I was 24, I was getting my hair done by a local stylist, and we were chatting about the restaurant industry. And she told me that she also loved the connections she had working as a server. She told me that she felt that same sense of closeness to people in the beauty industry because she was able to work one on one with clients all day. Impulsivity is my thing, so I walked into the beauty school the next day and enrolled myself. After bouncing around in various positions for hair, skin, and nails, I realized that I was madly in love with skincare. During my first week as an esthetician, I nervously applied a chemical peel to a client and was amazed at how much clinical skincare could make a difference in skin. This started my journey into corrective skincare specifically. Since my dad was a teacher, I grew up with a heavy focus on the benefit of education and always continuous learning. I continued teaching estheticians in the Minnesota Advanced Program for Esthetics and working with Procell Therapies as a trainer and mentor. I have trained over 100 estheticians in various advanced modalities in skincare. Most recently, I opened my skincare practice in St. Cloud, Minnesota, with a heavy focus on educating my clients and unique skincare boot camp programs to help them achieve their skincare goals. My business is unique because I am a “no fluff and buff” esthetician. Each treatment is done with a full skincare analysis and customization based on individual needs and goals. I work on various skin conditions, including pigmentation, acne, age management, body resurfacing, skincare tightening, and hair loss treatments. I continue to train and work for Procell Therapies and help other estheticians learn how to advance their skills in Microneedling specifically. I eat, sleep, and breathe skincare.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a rollercoaster. I have always struggled with a need to make my way. When I was in my twenties, I thought I didn’t like to work. I was employed and working with other employers’ protocols. And on someone else’s schedule was very hard for me. As I got older, I realized I hadn’t found the right fit. I didn’t find what I loved until I was 27, which felt very late. I had a rough period in my mid-twenties of feeling lost. Once I realized my passion was in skincare, an entire world opened up, and I have been successful ever since. It was hard to feel uninspired, and now I have more inspiration than I can handle! I have a thirteen-year-old, and I am careful to try to guide him rather than tell him what to want out of his life. I think it’s important to keep trying until you get it right.
As you know, we’re big fans of Tina Rachelle Aesthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
My business was founded on bridging a gap in the skincare community on educational and personalized skincare. I work with my clients one on one to find a regimen and treatment plan that will help them accomplish their goals but also help them understand the intricacies of their skin. I believe that when you tackle issues with your skin, you can love yourself more. I customize 3-6 month skincare boot camps while keeping in mind that each person who comes to me is there because they are in a vulnerable spot with their skin. I can help them learn to take care of themselves better by establishing trust and relationships with them. Authenticity is a very important part of my business model. My clients must learn to love their skin and not compare it to what they see on the internet or on tv. Everyone’s skin is different and should make skincare a better version of your skin. I focus on corrective skin care without the cold, clinical setting, and I provide the warmth of a spa setting without the fluff and buff facials. I pride myself on having the best of both worlds and still making my clients feel at home when they see me while receiving a high level of corrective skincare.
What does success mean to you?
Success is finding what you are truly passionate about and making it work for you. I would have been miserable in any of the 20 jobs I took out if high school, that I could have easily been “successful” at.
