Community Highlights: Meet Todd And Tracy Linbo of Double T Acres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Todd And Tracy Linbo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We grew up in rural southeast Minnesota, where our love for agriculture and the outdoors began. We have spent the entirety of our careers in the agriculture industry. In 2013, we purchased a cabin on Nisswa Lake with an ultimate dream of living in the Northwoods. One weekend, while at our cabin in 2019, we came across the opportunity of Jake and Scout’s Berry Farm – and we had a crazy idea: buy it and start a new adventure that would provide a space for families, friends and people to gather outdoors and create lasting joy-filled memories.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall it has been a really great experience, but like most small businesses, there have been a few bumps. Our first season that we owned the farm was during Covid, so we started our adventure with some uncertainty, but it turned out the farm was a great outdoor space for people to find calm. Also, agriculture is always impacted by the uncertainty of weather, one year we lost a large portion of the crop to frost, another season we were impacted by drought and this past year we lost our Raspberries to insects. But each year new customers find our farm and many customers are annual visitors, which brings us a lot of joy!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We have always been passionate about agriculture, adventure and the power of connection. Double T Acres brings all of these things together and we’re excited to have people join us in the experience.

Double T Acres is a sustainably grown berry farm where we offer a serene backdrop to enjoy the outdoors while picking fresh blueberries, raspberries and tart cherries. We also offer fresh pre-picked cherries, berries, including strawberries, asparagus, sweetcorn, and flowers for sale. The farm is also a great place for pollinators to thrive.

We know how busy life can get. We want to provide a place where friends and families slow down the pace of life and create meaningful, memorable experiences – together. It makes us proud that people find joy in visiting the farm, particularly when they return year after year.

We take pride in our property and try to make the picking experience as easy as possible for our visitors. The flavor of the products sets us apart. There are quite a few people who think they dont like asparagus or dont like blueberries, until they eat them fresh out of the field!

Our strawberries are a special treat for the area. The strawberries are grown on “table-tops” in high-tunnels (like greenhouses). This is a new practice for MN and while it is frustrating for some people that its not the traditional picking experience, for most people they love the fact they can place an order for fresh, flavorful, locally grown strawberries from June through October!

One additional aspect we are very proud of is our partnership with the local food shelves in Pequot Lakes and Pine River. Its a great opportunity to be sure everyone has access to fresh, local produce.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We expect that people are going to continue to want to know where their food comes from and the support of local farmers will continue, especially as people taste the difference in the quality of the products they buy locally.
