Conversations with Ashley LaRue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley LaRue.

Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always dreamed of becoming an author and to bring light and love into the world with my words, and hopefully help others on their journeys in this life, so when I was able to start working with the exceptional Fox Pointe Publishing company, my dreams literally became reality. My first book, “Home is Love,” was written because I had gone through a divorce with my first three children’s father, and I needed them to know that no matter what happened in this life that they would always be loved, and that wherever they experienced love, whether at home with myself or with their dad, that home was where they felt that compassion, understanding, grace, love, etc. They were created for a special reason and to make the world a better place, and they were the true love story. My oldest daughter read it, and she said that what I had written was everything she felt, and it made her heart happy to know that she could just love everyone and that wherever she felt/feels that love was/is validated because all of us are her “Home.” Now, I have five, precious babies who are important inspirations in my life, as well as in my stories that I create to spread love, kindness, and empathy to others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes, it has been a very smooth road in the fact that I genuinely believed in what I was writing, and I knew that God had placed this passion in my heart to help others, especially my incredible babies with my words and writings. I reached out to the brilliant Fox Pointe Publishing crew, sent in my manuscript, and an explanation as to “Why” I felt my book should be published. They believed in me just as I believed in myself, so the partnership has been so wonderful because of us working together with grace, understanding, and kindness for each other.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a children’s author, and my first three books are titled, “Home is Love,” “Love to Share,” and “Love Until Forever.” The first book, “Home is Love” is about a young child who comes from a family where her parents are no longer together, and she asks her mama about where her home is. Her mom explains in detail with different scenarios involving love, memories, or ideas that will help the little girl understand what makes up her home. The main point is that wherever her daughter feels love, and wherever her heart is, with her mom, dad, her siblings, etc. is where her home is. Love is what matters, and home is where the heart is. The second book, “Love to Share” is about a young boy whose parents love different people from one another, and worries he won’t be able to love everyone without hurting someone’s feelings. His father tells him our hearts are like puzzles and the different people in our lives are the pieces. Every unique piece we add, our hearts become bigger and stronger, and there is always room for another piece. There is always love to share. The third book, “Love Until Forever” is about a new baby being born into a blended family, and a young child asks her mom and stepdad how they can love each of the children the same way. Her parents teach her that the love they have in their hearts for each child is not the same, but unique and special because of who that child is, and that each child holds a perfect key that fits their hearts. No matter what, the unconditional love they have for all their children will last until forever. I am most proud of my FIVE, amazing, loving, gracious, compassionate, kind, and extraordinary babies, and that I am able to watch them grow, and continue to teach them as their joyful mom to love others, accept and understand other people, and to be who they are wherever they are, and love themselves for being exactly who they were created to be, as well as my loving marriage with my remarkable husband. I am blessed that God gave me this talent/gift, and through Him, I have been able to help others through my words and actions, and to know we are all created for a unique reason, and to be that shining light in the world, and we are all more than good enough.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define “Success” as setting a goal or reaching for a dream that is very important to you, and to work as hard as you can and believe in your abilities to achieve it. Even if it’s not exactly the way that you envisioned it to unfold, if in the end, you are proud of what you’ve done, and you know you did your very best to reach that milestone, you’ve learned a lesson, and/or you have become stronger and a better version of who you were before that point, then that is definitely “Success” in my book… Everything will happen the way it needs to for you, so if you have courage and faith, it will all work out as it should. As long as you are doing what is in your heart; that’s what matters the most.
