Today we’d like to introduce you to Barbara Lager
Hi Barbara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a life long artist and creative thinker. I have always led with my heart, no matter what my endeavors may be. Whether it’s my line of unique whimsical jewelry, wall art, or my book “Breathing in Beauty” uplifting Poems and Inspiring Sayings.
I recieved my Bachelor’s degree in Art, way back when in 82, from Illinois State University.
I’ve been exhibiting my artwork successfully in juried artshows and galleries throughout the United States for 30 plus years.
In 2023 my Poetry book “Breathing in Beauty” was published. A thrilling experience to have others read my written words and be a ripple of love and inspiration. You can find my book on Amazon, aswell as various stores and galleries.
My most cherished treasure is to connect authentically with others.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is it ever really smooth! I was married in 1991 to Tom Larner a gifted artist. Tom had started creating jewelry before we met. Together we created our distinctive line of whimsical jewelry each adding our own magic. Our greatest creation was our beautiful son Nick. In 1995 Tom left this world. Leaving Nick and I. I pushed on in face of this horrific tragedy thinking that Nick already had lost one parent. I had to stay positive and strong with self determination to carve out a life for both of us. I self taught myself everything Tom did and stayed with the lifestyle of being a self-employed artist. Which brought me a sense of deep solice. When I look back at that crossroad, I’m ever so grateful that I followed my heart! It gave me a place for my soul to walk back to after my world was shattered.

I’m known for my unique line of colorful mixed-metal whimsical jewelry and art. I created a way to hand anodized Niobium. My art is entertaining and always makes people smile! It’s always an honor to put JOY into our world!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Believe in yourself and have tenacity!!
Taking the steps towards what you want, and seeing yourself achieving success. Don’t back down from negative self talk which creates fear, just take one step forward at a time. No matter how long that second and third step take. Building self confidence comes from trying. Turning your mistakes into Alchemy.
It’s your vision, nobody else’s, let the world see it!
P.S. I did go on to meet a wonderful husband Daniel and had another son Parker, and step-daughter Jessica!
