Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Lindahl.
Hi Daniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Music has always been a huge part of my life. Before I was alive, my Mom and her brothers toured around the country as a singing group called the Happiness Four. When I was a teenager my brothers and I, along with my best friend Alec, made a band together called the Sending and later, Hit the Ground Running. Over time a passion developed in me to be a worship leader. The past number of years I have been leading at different churches and writing songs about my faith. I aspire to be as transparent as possible and write honest songs that show how my faith has helped me overcome many difficult trials.
The past year has been my best year as a songwriter. I am in the process of releasing a number of singles and in April I’m planning on releasing my newest single; “Dream of Your Heart”, which is about God’s redemptive power.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been many peaks and valleys on my road, probably too many to even mention. Two years ago was a particularly dark time in my life, but God has been faithful to keep me.
Mental health has been a major struggle in my adult life and I spent most of my 20’s dealing with the effects of depression. I was too prideful to address it, or get the support I needed. I implore others to reach out earlier than I did!
I wrote a song about my experience with depression I’m hoping to release sometime in the near future. It’s the most honest and raw song I’ve ever written.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I always identify myself first and foremost as a songwriter. I write songs.
I think I write songs like other people write in a journal. My greatest joys come from a quiet place with a guitar or piano sifting through my thoughts and feelings.
At the end of the day, I hope my songs point to something much bigger than my tiny existence. I believe there is an eternal ache in the human heart for something more than what is in front of us. My lived experiences aren’t really enough to inspire anyone, but if I take the time to consider who God is, one who is full of love and grace beyond our wildest imagination. I can write about God forever.
I don’t know if there’s anything too unique that sets me apart from other artists. I’m really just a regular dude who loves music and connecting with others through it.
