Today we’d like to introduce you to David Esquire
Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
David Esquire, the owner of Esquire Photography is an autodidact Second-Generation, International Award-Winning and Published Photojournalist, Educator and Writer.
For more than three decades, he has had the honour of capturing photos around the USA, England, Germany, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, India, Mexico, Costa Rica and Canada. His work has been featured globally in English, French, German, and Spanish publications, has contributed to a best-selling book on how to take better photographs, and worked with Grammy award winning bands like Duran Duran, Limp Bizkit and Suicide Machines.
David Esquire been featured on WeTV’s; “Platinum Weddings” and “My Fair Wedding” with celebrity planner; David Tutera. He is also currently in pre-production for the upcoming TV program; “Picture Me – Picture You” filmed & photographed around the world entirely on the Nokia 808 Pureview and Apple iPhone mobile phones and was an Actor & Set Photographer for the award winning film: “Skyfell (And I Can’t Get Up)” for the 6th Annual Toscars hosted by Brits In LA.
In David Esquire’s free time, he gives motivational speeches at elementary schools throughout Southern California and enjoys teaching new & coming photographers on how to master their craft and build their businesses.
David Esquire also firmly believes amazing photographs are a by-product of a terrific relationship – so he is very selective on who he works with. Mr. Esquire is not a “McTographer” punching a clock, collecting a check.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it has not. I’ve had a gun held to my head in Los Angeles leaving a 7-11, became homeless when my photography studio (and home) was destroyed in the Northridge Earthquake, died in a head-on collision and brought back to life, survived a massive heart attack and two more episides, survived a heart surgery after covid, had two strokes during covid, and am currently surviving with long covid symptoms that have left me handicapped – BUT NOT enough to stop me from being a professional photographer, filmmaker, drone pilot and having fun as a marketing an AI expert.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Hi, I am David and I am a Minneapolis-based photographer. Forget stiff and cookie-cutter. I am not your average photographer, I’m a globe-trotting creative powerhouse fueled by caffeine and passion. From gracing runways to capturing iconic bands, my journey has been anything but ordinary. Now, I bring that same energy and award-winning vision to photo shoots. Having graced the runways as a professional model for Ralph Lauren, I understand the nuances of capturing elegance and sophistication. My lens has immortalized the legendary performances of Duran Duran, and my work for professional models showcases a polished, high-fashion aesthetic. Photographing legendary performances taught me to seize the perfect moments of joy and excitement, much like the candid and heartfelt moments at a wedding. My work with professional models brings a polished, high-fashion touch to bridal portraits, while my extensive travels and experience enable me to adapt to any setting, capturing the adventure and authenticity of your wedding day. With a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail, I bring a unique, award-winning vision to create timeless memories to my client’s projects and shoots.
What makes you happy?
Making people cry (for the right reasons) when they pour over their photography and watching things “click” in my student’s eyes when they “get it” as I’m teaching them. It’s one of the most gratifying experiences ever.
