Today we’d like to introduce you to David Stalter Jr. He shares his story with us below:
David Stalter Jr. born and raised in Minnesota. He started dancing in 2012/2013 the summer after his freshman year of high school, dancing as an outlet to express himself. He’s self taught teaching himself all sorts of styles like Hip Hop Freestyle, Animation, Breaking, House and many more. He’s danced with the 612 Timberwolves crew where he’s danced with G-eazy, Lil Jon, and Skee-Lo he’s currently been dancing for 7-8 years. Winning over 15+ competitions in his dance career. He focuses on musicality, control and becoming one with the music. He comes from a street background but has built studio experience throughout his dance career. He’s been teaching since 2015/2016. Dance has taught him many different things and has made him the person he is today. His ultimate goal is to inspire as many people as he can with his art to spread love and light and help those in need. He believes it’s important to be yourself no matter what because that’s what makes you special and that’s what makes you you. He’s a true artist based in Minnesota with his passion and art dance has given him the opportunity to travel to many different places so far like Florida, Texas, L.A, Paris, and many more. Currently, in 2022, he works hard on his art to become an even more versed artist and an even better teacher. He has faith that one day he’ll travel the world teaching about self love and dance while continuing to be a student learning new things along the way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The Pandemic definitely canceled a lot of career changing opportunities for me but I’ve always been a naturally optimistic person even through the darkest times so I have faith that this is just how my journey is supposed to go right now and I’ll be where I’m meant to be eventually!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a movement artist! I specialize in freestyle and self expression but I also love performing & teaching classes based on freestyle and choreography alike!
I’m most known for my performances and Freestyle competitions
I’d say I’m most proud of the ability to be able to inspire people with my art form inspiring people by taking whatever pain they feel if it’s at 99% if I can make that go from that to 98% with my art it’s all worthwhile for me but I’d also say I’m very proud of my competition record and some of my performances that truly meant a lot to me that I’ve been blessed and honored enough to get some standing ovations for
I think what sets me apart is my intention behind my movement it’s always honest and raw while also knowing that theirs only one me & I believe knowing that alone is a superpower that not many people tap into being an individual and yourself is what sets you apart because of your experiences and who you are
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When it comes to finding a mentor and networking I’d say be genuine and yourself through my experience I never tried networking I was just always able to move without pride and ask certain questions if I needed help from anyone, also being genuine means you make real connections rather than trying to force connections most of the time people can feel that disingenuous energy. I also don’t really have any mentors but I do learn a lot from my environment and those around me that inspire me I think I’m like a sponge I soak up everything around me.
