Conversations with Evelin Rodriguez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelin Rodriguez.

Hi Evelin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I used to watch my mom and godmother get all glammed up all the time, completely in awe of them. That’s where my love for beauty really began. They also taught me to always do it for myself because no one can make you feel better than you can. Because of them, I’ve always been drawn to it, from makeup and hair to self-care, and it’s always felt like second nature to me. Once I realized I could turn that passion into a career, it truly felt like a match made in heaven.

But somehow, I fell even more in love with waxing. I think it’s the connection I build with my clients. Appointments turn into mini therapy sessions—I just happen to be holding wax while we talk through life.

Deadly Bombshells Esthetics Studio started because I didn’t see myself reflected in the beauty industry. Everything felt too polished, too safe, and honestly, a little boring. I wanted to create something with more edge, something that felt real and unapologetic.

So I built it from the ground up with consistency, long days, and a strong belief in my vision, even when things felt uncertain. I created a space where people don’t have to tone themselves down to fit in.

Now, it’s more than waxing. It’s about confidence, power, and helping people step into the most unapologetic version of themselves.

At the end of the day, I believe in the power of women—showing up, owning who we are, and supporting each other, even if it’s mid-wax and mid-life-crisis conversation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Building Deadly Bombshells from the ground up came with long nights, endless learning, and more ‘what am I doing?’ moments than I can count. The beauty industry can feel very samey and safe, and I was determined to create something different—a space with edge, personality, and zero filters.

And the challenges? Oh, there were plenty. Clients, the business side of things (who knew taxes and scheduling could be scarier than a Brazilian?), and those days when nothing seemed to go right. I may have even cried mid-wax once or twice—but don’t worry, no one noticed.

Every struggle taught me resilience, patience, and the value of authenticity. Those hard moments shaped Deadly Bombshells into the unapologetic, real, and powerful space it is today, and they made every win feel that much sweeter.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a licensed esthetician and the owner of Deadly Bombshells Esthetics Studio, a Latina-owned business where I specialize in waxing services. I create an experience that’s empowering, bold, and a little addictive—because once you try it, there’s no going back (and yes, I promise it’s worth the pain).

I’m known for my precision, attention to detail, and the atmosphere I cultivate—one where clients feel confident, seen, and unapologetically themselves. What sets me apart is combining skill with personality. I like to think of myself as part esthetician, part hype woman, and part beauty badass.

What I’m most proud of is building this studio from the ground up into a space that’s edgy, real, and inclusive—a place where individuality is celebrated and where people can leave feeling smooth, strong, and maybe even a little unstoppable.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What do I like most about our city? What isn’t there to love about the Twin Cities? There’s so much community, culture, support, and progressiveness woven into every corner. It’s a place where people show up for each other, where small businesses are uplifted, and where individuality is not just accepted—but celebrated.

I’m beyond grateful I grew up here. As a Latina, going to Mercado Central was the highlight of my weekends—the music, the food, the feeling of being surrounded by my culture. Just walking down Lake Street felt like home in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. There’s a richness in the Twin Cities—layers of cultures, stories, and traditions all coexisting—and that’s something really special.

What I love most is that the Twin Cities feel like a place where you can grow into yourself. It’s creative, it’s resilient, and it’s always evolving.

What do I like least? Honestly, like any city, it has its challenges. Winters can feel never-ending, and there are still gaps when it comes to equity and opportunity that we can’t ignore. But even in that, I see people constantly pushing for better, advocating for change, and working toward a stronger, more inclusive community.

And that’s what makes me love it even more—because this city doesn’t just exist, it cares.
