Conversations with FAE

Today we’d like to introduce you to FAE .

Hi FAE, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out pen tapping in the lunchroom with my friends and I slowly began listening to music differently. Listening to the beat rather than the lyrics alone. Eventually, I started to write songs in a notebook and perform them in front of my grandma! to her surprise I could catch a beat in the 7th grade. FAE is an acronym for Fariji Also Entertains. I started to make music that combined rap with a melody to create melodic rap influenced by my East African heritage. My talent and hard work has allowed me to release music under Kilimanjaro Records. Throughout highschool I have been in and out of the studio performing live shows and have a lot more music to release.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes, school and sports have been a struggle to consistently release music. It has held me back, hindering my ability to schedule reasonable studio times. This Resulted in me often missing many practices and staying up late nights before a big test.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer/rapper/songwriter. I specialize in making music, catchy choruses and I am known for my ability to make a presence through my songs often getting the reaction “Is this your song? This isn’t your song stop lying.”, name and moving at my own speed, not letting anyone affect the decisions I make. I am most proud of the options I have when creating music or a song, from dynamic to different beats, etc. I value my connections a lot. what sets me apart from others is my ability to articulate a message in different tones and flows making me versatile to create songs of any nature. I also move at my own pace and get things done the way I want them to be done instead of the way another person wants it to be done. My sound is also what sets me apart from others.

How do you define success?
I define success as a variety of different checkpoints. success is a goal one sets for themselves to achieve then repeats that cycle every time they achieve it, finding value in the journey and not what they obtained.
