Conversations with Jo Abbott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo Abbott.

Hi Jo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During a really dark point in my life I was introduced to Shamanic Energy work which was the only modality that brought me relief in that time. In receiving such powerful healing and support, a passion was ignited within me to offer the same. In stepping onto the shamanic path new skills and offerings have continued to unfold.
I currently offer shamanic reiki sessions (individual and group), shamanic breathwork sessions (individual or group), and plant medicine ceremonies (such as hape and sananga).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning my own business is so freeing and also terrifying. It allows me to structure my work, my days, and life in a way that is so freeing but it also comes with it the sole responsibility to financial stability and some of the other safeties naturally baked into corporate type jobs.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a shamanic reiki practitioner. I offer shamanic reiki energy healing sessions, group breathwork experiences, and specialized ceremonies/energy clearings. I also lead the Women and Spirituality conference.
I am most proud of taking all the diverse life experiences I have, to create healing and supporting spaces for people; individually, as a group, and even large gatherings.
I believe the versatility of skills I have sets me a part in being able to create the spaces I do at several levels, not just 1:1.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My grandmother created a bookclub with my cousins and me. One of the books we read was “The Bridge to Terabithia”. After reading the book we gathered at her home and walked into the woods where we had a picnic on a rickety wooden bridge while talking about the book.
