Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Boehne.
Hi Justin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m an artist and musician from Bloomington MN. I worked in the printing industry for 20+ years before starting my own LLC doing freelance design (Gnarwhal Design Solutions). I have played bass in bands the last 25 years (Current bands – Cymothoa and Den of Thieves).
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No smooth road with either endeavor business or bands. Doing freelance work there can be times that are really busy and other times where I’m searching for work. It does seem to even out though. Playing music in a city with so many great musicians and bands has always been challenging but lots of fun. Booking shows has always been a bit of a challenge due to clubs closing and promoters changing throughout the city.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in design of all kinds. From clean business logos to art work for Death Metal bands. Digital art to hand drawn design. I was Surly Darkness Artist in 2023. I play bass in both bands and am proud of all the albums and music we’ve created over the years.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To be persistent and keep grinding away.
