Conversations with LiL Mike and Funny Bone

Today we’d like to introduce you to LiL Mike and Funny Bone.

We’d love for you to start by introducing yourselves.
As a kid, I (Mike) was encouraged by my therapist to write out my feelings instead of acting out in aggression. I picked up poetry & dancing, and got the nickname LiL Mike for dancing like Michael Jackson. Poetry turned to rap and my brother joined in on the act. With a comical stage presence, he got the name Funny Bone. Together we are known as MIKE BONE. We started out performing at festivals, fairs, schools, and churches, anything we could get. We kept the lyrics clean to maximize exposure with radio play and being able to perform at family events. As city-raised Native Americans, we didn’t get into our culture until our late teens, but once we got a taste we fell in love, you can even hear the transition throughout our albums. As short brothers, we use our lack of height to our advantage and we steal the show wherever we go. We stay Independent cause record labels want too much control. Got into acting when covid stopped all our touring & it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We’re now on season 3 of the hit TV series “Reservation Dogs” that also uses our music on the soundtrack. We’re still writing, recording, touring, and picking up other acting gigs. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up poor has kept us aware of our spending habits, being raised in rough neighborhoods but also in the church has made us kind-hearted but also tough. We learned to embrace the haters & be comfortable with who we are.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We have an iconic image as short, look-a-like Native American brothers. We’re also sober & drug-free hip-hop artists/dancers who don’t cuss & that makes us stand out from the rest. Our choice to make clean music is to leave a good legacy.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
