Lynn has been designing and creating her art for over 20 years. She is a Mixed Media artist, using acrylics mostly, adding multiple layers of art, custom font, fun bright colors with a Vintage finish. She uses her talent and gift to add some color to the world, one canvas at a time. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every year brings something different. I would like to think that I have gained a lot of wisdom in both the art world and retail too. Every art show I do brings new challenges, new friends, old friends and so many good stories.
I wear all the hats, small business owner, creator, scheduler, IT stuff, social stuff, Marketing stuff, and running the show., both live and online too. My biggest struggle is managing my time. There is sometimes so much to do all at the same time as when I need to be in the studio creating, building inventory.
Taking my art on the road is fun but also has its own set of challenges. Outdoor shows are subject to outdoor elements, temperatures, attendance and now CoviD too. People are afraid to come out and “BE” together so that makes it tough.
I say “Life is tough but I am TOUGHER. My intent is to bring JOY with my art and I have no intention of stopping that now. =)
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a mixed media artist. I use mostly acrylics, lots of color, layers of brightness, inspiration, vintage papers, sometimes embellishments, repurposed things, upcycled metal and pieces. I paint on all the stuff. Mostly canvas, from Mini to Large (30×40), Frames, Greeting Cards, Magnets, Totes, Mugs….all of it. My designs are inspiring, empowering, funny, faith filled, even Silly. I have my own custom font that is now very recognizable all over. I also am a “Licensed” artist. Ive created designs and products that are licensed and sold nationwide. The best part is when a fan or someone new sends me a picture of my art and stuff in shops all over. I have had the opportunity to teach a few sessions both in Haiti (2011) and as far as Kristiansen Norway (2013).
I have no formal training, just a free spirit with a gift to create and do what I can to make a difference through my art.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I am one of the lucky ones. I started learning and developing my website while I was out physically doing shows. When Covid hit, I looked at it as an opportunity to have the extra time to learn more, to figure out the online stuff…to be present where I need to be. We can still make a difference, and still be together without being together. It’s all in how you look at it. If you look for the good, you will find it EVERY TIME.
