Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Drossel

Hi Molly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My mom had a candy store when I was a kid. I did not follow her footsteps, I got a “real” corporate job that I loved. Covid came and took that away so when I was home not working, I asked my mom if she wanted to see if there was a calling for her candy. She said she would love to help me do so. We started doing farmers markets to see if there was an interest and that went well. We did markets for 2 years before I started looking for a place for a brick and mortar. I ended up in Big Lake in a building with a boutique. That worked well for a bit but after two years, I wanted to have more space and be completely on my own so I moved from Big Lake across the river to my hometown of Monticello. I opened here at the end of July 2024 and haven’t looked back. The location, the shop, the community have been amazing here!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road! There were personality differences when I was located in Big Lake that made things harder than I thought they should have been. When I moved into my current shop in Monticello, we had to be closed for longer than I would have liked. We had a lot of build out to do and of course, it seemed to take forever. Also, just getting used to the buying habits and demands of a new location has been tough too.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in handmade chocolates and nutrolls. I am really known for my nutrolls. They are amazing! I have traditional candies such as turtles, nut clusters and such but I also have different things like inside out turtles, fabulous 5’s and nut goodies. I also serve 24 flavors of hard scoop ice cream. I am most proud of my nutrolls, I love when people rave about them! The fact that I make all my chocolates in house sets me apart from the rest.
