Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Pfeifer.
Hi Nikki, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to the Twin Cities when I was 23 and started songwriting. It took me a few years to figure out my style of writing until I found a home making electronic music under the moniker Devata Daun. I co-owned a local record label that focused on tape music called Pytch Records and was a promoter for a handful of years. I started digging into the rave techno and house scene and started teaching myself how to program sequencers and began performing live PA at dance parties as Tekk Nikk. I also spent a handful of years running a DJ residency with Rowsheen called Red Light Special at Kitty Cat Klub, tucked in the depths of Dinkytown, and was a part of the early crew of Dark Energy.
My mystical journey began in my late 20’s after much of my music experience in the party scene that had thrust me into some unhealthy choices. I decided to get sober that aligned with a spiritual awakening that led me to explore healing modalities. I fell in love with QHHT (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique), a hypnosis technique pioneered by the late Dolores Cannon. I soon began my coursework under this certification program and did the first part of my internship as a hypnotherapist in regression past lives in the Twin Cities. I felt a calling to go to the West Coast and found myself in Portland where I finished my internship. While I was there, I explored becoming a death doula. I had overcome immense fear of death through my awakening process and I wanted to help people celebrate this last chapter of their lives with as much comfort and support as possible. I quickly found out that this was not the correct career path for me and hit many roadblocks along the way. I eventually found myself packing up to return to the Twin Cities, a place that is very dear to my heart, a place I consider home. The universe is so mysterious! I somehow landed a job as a real estate photographer when I moved back. I had never touched a DSLR camera in my life, but was ready for the opportunity presented to me to learn this new tool and I have been working in this field for a year and a half.
I currently live a triple life, still making and performing electronic music, a photographer, and a hypnotherapist in regression past lives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I found it challenging to balance the music party life and making healthy choices. My time in Portland was very challenging, starting over, practicing sobriety, running into roadblocks with my job search and career pursuits.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I write and perform electronic music. I love being a moving part helping curate parties and labels. I’m known for my time doing music projects Devata Daun, Tekk Nikk, co-owning Pytch Records, resident DJ with Dark Energy (in their early crew), curated a DJ residency with Rowsheen called Red Light Special at Kitty Cat Klub. I’m proud of my time spent doing all these things and the friendships I’ve made. The music scene here is very special.
I also find my work as a hypnotherapist a very creative method to connect with other souls. I am always just amazed how clients show up to a session with trust, and an open heart and mind to explore their soul lineage and to heal and to have me guide them through this profound experience. It’s a very deep way that I connect with others and I will probably always practice it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have always had peculiar career pursuits and have followed my heart. I take leaps of faith and try new trades and that in itself has brought me lots of abundances. Facing change and doing it to the best of my abilities.
