Today we’d like to introduce you to Regan, Karley, & Kassi Of Sporty Spice Book Club.
Hi Regan, Karley, & Kassi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our original book club was something we started with just the three of us during the pandemic. We needed a pick me up during those times when everything felt so isolated. What started off as us just reading a couple of books and getting together to chat turned into us wanting to share our love for books with everyone else. We decided to start a TikTok and Instagram page about two years ago, and never looked back! We would’ve never expected our little monthly get-togethers to yap about books to have turned into this incredible community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say we’ve been fortunate to experience very few struggles in this adventure. Everyone in the book community has been so welcoming and helpful throughout the journey so far. We’ve had the opportunity to meet influencers, authors, and readers alike who have been so kind to all of us. There are times when we hit creative struggles and find it hard to come up with new and interesting content. But that’s the nice thing about running social media pages with your two best friends! Usually one of us can come up with a pretty good idea to get us out of that slump thankfully.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are social media influencers in the Booktok and Bookstagram community. What that basically means is we have an Instagram and Tiktok page where we post different content. We read books and then provide honest and meaningful reviews to our followers. This also includes creating graphics and photo edits to go with each review to portray and represent each story. We also give book recommendations and suggestions for people who are interested in reading more books like the ones we review. Our TikTok page is mostly dedicated to book suggestions and brining popular trends to the Booktok space.
I think something that we are really proud of is the amount of authors, both established and brand new, who reach out to us and ask for us to read and share a review about their book. It’s such a great feeling to know that authors trust us with their work and find value in what we do to help promote their books. They put so much time and effort into creating their stories and for them to then reach out to us for help with promoting it is really humbling. I think that’s probably the thing we are most proud of.
Something that sets us apart from other pages is the fact that this is a group effort. By following our page, you’re really getting three in one. We each post and contribute in different ways and I think it’s really cool to see each of our own personalities shine through in our reviews and graphics. We each have a different take on things so you really are getting multiple perspectives on different books and authors each time.
What matters most to you?
I think what matters most to us is providing a safe and welcoming space for everyone who visits our pages and decides to follows us. The Internet can be a really toxic and dangerous place if you fall into the wrong communities. So, something that we take very seriously is being an inclusive and welcoming page for people to come and share their love for books and to be able to talk about them with someone who understands them and they feel comfortable with.
