Conversations with Sarah Deziel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Deziel

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Minnesota, and went to college in Gunnison, CO at Western State University, majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I spent several years on the west coast working & traveling as a sales rep in the Outdoor Industry, selling ski clothes, apparel, footwear, backpacks and gear ~ and having a blast hiking, biking, and exploring. As all native Minnesotans know, home always calls you back, and I relocated to SW Minneapolis near Lake Harriet where I settled in and started a family. With Minneapolis being known as a “City within a Park” we loved living by the lakes, trails and green spaces. I was hired by lululemon to be their first employee in MN and launch the brand, and spent my days connecting with all of the local yoga and fitness studios, instructors and events. I enjoyed scoping out store locations, opening a showroom, and hiring & training a team. It was an exciting time doing all kinds of grassroots marketing and getting involved in the community. After my two daughters were born, it was time for me to reevaluate my career path, and I stayed home with them for a few years. My dad always told me “Honey, you’d be great in real estate!” and eventually I got my license and went to work with a top performing real estate team in the Edina area. I loved the business and personal sides of it, and hit the ground running. When our oldest was in kindergarten, we decided to move to the St Croix Valley where we found a house we loved and a laid back community near the river, in a great school district. We’ve been here 10 years now and love it!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
lol there are always challenges in real estate. That’s the name of the game! It’s all about being a problem solver, anticipating & communicating what’s ahead, and using data and proven strategies to get in the driver’s seat for my clients right away and stay there throughout the process.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a realtor in the St. Croix Valley, I am licensed in both MN & WI, and office in beautiful downtown Stillwater, MN. About 3 years ago, I joined BRIX Real Estate, which is a boutique brokerage consisting of about 60 full-time realtors across the Twin Cities. The support and culture here has been game changing, and my business continues to grow year after year. The majority of my clients come from personal referrals, past clients and word of mouth. I get right in the process with my clients, from start to finish, consulting and advising and listening every step of the way. I work with sellers, buyers, and investors, and am constantly striving to learn, grow and adapt to changing markets and trends. What sets me apart is top notch communication throughout, not just with my clients but with other realtors, lenders, etc. throughout the transaction. I give my complete attention to all of the little details that can make a HUGE difference in the amount of money my sellers are walking away with, and I am experienced in spotting potential red flags for my buyers. I’ve earned a “Top Agent” badge on Zillow and I’ve been selected as a “Super Realtor” by Twin Cities Business and Minneapolis/St Paul Magazine 5 years in a row!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve built a business around doing what I love, with people who I connect with and who motivate and inspire me. I’ve done some networking groups from time to time, but I’ve learned that by getting involved in things I care about in my community, I am able to give back and continue meeting people.

The real estate world is full of incredible and inspiring people absolutely killing it in life and business. I have found that most people love to help others if they are asked.
