Conversations with Shanti Krishna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanti Krishna.

Hi Shanti, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As I reflect back on my story, three words present themselves … Soul Purpose, Transformation, and Awakening. Throughout this life, I have been on a path towards soul purpose, experiencing deep transformation, in cycles of death and rebirth, into various identities of self, and awakening to the divinity of life.

From uninspired beauty school drop-out to unbalanced California design school punk, to working late nights at the bar to early mornings at the breakfast joint, to actor, to web design student, to wife, to accounting manager, to marketing manager, to 33-year-old college student, to corporate cog, to voice actor, to mother, to homeschooling mother, to kundalini yogini, to divorcee, to single parent, to warrior fully surrendering to the divine flow, to making choices based on divine guidance and serving others, to … to be continued.

In the earlier days of my life, I seemed to be taking the scenic route to soul purpose, navigating from a place of projection and expectation, steering in the direction of who I thought I was supposed to be based on the influences of those energies around me, rather than from a deep connection to self, source, and sacred trust in being authentic to my truth. The universe presented me with several awakenings to move me closer to that surrender to my destined path.

The first awakening came for me when I had my son. Before motherhood, I was always searching for my path of my purpose. Once I became a mother, a pivotal purpose was met and I was wearing rose-colored glasses. I embraced a new outlook on life and what it meant to be intuitively guided, selfless, and in sacred service to another.

My second awakening came when I had my daughter, who was discovered blind at the age of 8 weeks old. This opened me up to deep surrender and trust in the divine, and filled me with honor to be chosen to be this little soul’s mother to help guide her through life. It taught me how to move through life with confidence by tuning into the subtle energies around us.

Becoming a mother awoke the warrior in me, as I would do anything to ensure these children, whom I was here to serve, would grow up happy, healthy, and holy and become the fearless and inspired leaders that I knew they came here to be.

My third deep awakening came when I started to study my identity from a cosmic alignment. Getting a sense of who I was as it related to the stars and cosmic energies, helped me to understand myself and others on a more intimate level, it allowed me to open myself up to forgiveness and compassion and it created renewed self-love and personal empowerment. I awoke to divine guidance and messages through animal symbolism, music, signs, and synchronicities and I began to clear away the noise of the mind so that I could hear the gentle whispers of my soul’s intuitive knowing.

My fourth awakening came in 2021 when that intuitive guidance led me to kundalini yoga & meditation. This practice strengthened and energized me and gave me the tools to move through deep spiritual and personal transformation, gracefully and patiently, while maintaining a positive, neutral outlook filled with hope. Because of this, I became a devoted practitioner and teacher, knowing that this was a transformational gift I could share with others for the betterment of themselves and those they moved alongside through the world.

In addition to loving the work I do currently as a voice actor, I now find myself on a path of service. Through the ancient practice of kundalini yoga & meditation, breath work, mantra, and self-reflection, I aim to bring inner-peace and heart-centered living to the masculine, feminine, and children. Integration of my voice work may move into the creation of meditation audio or using this form of creation to guide and inspire, those like my daughter, who see by hearing.

Inspired by children, I felt called to work with at-risk youth using movement and music to guide them on a yogic kundalini journey, allowing them to release fear, sadness, and anger, while also giving them practical breath and meditation tools to use in times of emotional need. My organization, Earth’s Root, which I’m excited to grow in the future, aims to share kundalini yoga and meditation with the young to guide them into the discovery of their unique gifts.

At present, I am teaching the ancient yogic and meditative practice of kundalini in-person and online. I also offer private, personalized practice sessions via zoom. I am being called to guide women through transformation into authenticity, and graceful ascension towards their divinely-aligned soul path, through my intimate offering, The Mother Goddess.

And as I look forward, I have a deep knowing that life will continue to transform as it magically unfolds, and I hold comfort in the divine truth that with every ending comes a new beginning.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One’s journey is never smooth, but if you have the tools and the mindset to flow through the obstacles, those challenges become lessons, and you can effortlessly move past the blocks and end up exactly where you are meant to be.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an on-camera actor, voice actor, and Kundalini Yogini. Embodied in all emotions through my years of acting experience and personal transformation, I awaken others through body and voice. Through yoga, meditation, movement and sound, I help people remember how to navigate life with grace, confidence, and joy. I bring light to children by rooting them in love with devoted attention to their unique personalities and gifts.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is when you have tapped into your innate gifts, embodied them, and begun sharing them with others.
