Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Beaman of The Fireside Kind.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My business started as a way to get back to my creative roots. I grew up always immersed in some art activity, but I pursued a career in veterinary technology. Once I was married and we started having kids, I knew I wanted to stay home and raise my children versus returning to the clinic. I also loved working and doing passionate things, so I picked my camera up again in 2014 as a creative outlet and a way to support my family. I dove into online educational resources and courses and self-taught through practice. I have been in business for 10 years, shooting weddings and elopements for 5 years. My business went through an exciting change at the start of 2023. I changed my business name from Ash Jane Photography to The Fireside Kind. Being fireside represents connection and intentional moments, and I hope everyone I work with has those moments of their story that they can treasure.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Only sometimes a smooth road. My biggest struggle over the years has been navigating being a wife, stay-at-home mom, and homeschooling my children while simultaneously striving to provide an intentional and caring client experience.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in documenting elopements, micro and intimate weddings, couples, families, Airbnb/VRBO/cabin rentals, and brands. I help you preserve your story and stay through intentional, honest photos and a meaningful, laid-back experience that is uniquely curated for you. After my mom passed away in 2016, it forever changed me and ignited something within my work. Moments and memories became extremely important to me in a way they hadn’t before, and I started to view people and places I was photographing with new eyes. There is so much beauty in real life: the mundane, the significant events, spontaneous adventures, the emotions, challenges, the journey, all of it. Your life is history being written, and honoring that in an artful, timeless way that you will treasure is my goal.
What were you like growing up?
I’m grateful to have grown up in the 90s, when we spent most of our time outside, learning life skills passed down by family, and things like screen time were non-existent. My interests surrounded art, reading, animals, camping, hiking, traveling, and riding and training horses.
