Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Seymour.
Hi Tori, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Babes Who Book Club started as a New Years resolution in 2023 as a way to have an intentional way to discuss books with others. Over the past two years we’ve met monthly at various locations around the Twin Cities Metro to catch up with new and old friends and talk about that month’s book selection. Our membership ranges from never reading the book and attending for the camaraderie to those wanting extra book club in their life and attending our annual Book Club Retreats.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Babes Who Book Club is an ever evolving idea. Based on feedback from members we’ve adjusted what books are offered each month and have added new ideas. Being the sole individual responsible for the logistics and organization of Babes Who Book Club it can be overwhelming with the amount of things to do and trying to find the time to execute new ideas.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have a passion for bringing people together. With my background in event planning I try to create opportunities for people to come together and share in like minded activities. When new people find Babes Who Book Club online and meet new people or read something new, I know I’ve succeeded in my mission. I try to run Babes Who Book Club with the energy of a business rather than something that can be easily forgotten about.
How do you think about luck?
I think luck and positive thinking have a role to play in every aspect of life. I also think you have to create your own luck. I’ve put thought behind the content and activities of Babes Who Book Club. I’ve paid for ads and am listening to participants about what they are interested in. I’m not waiting for luck to find me.
