Today we’d like to introduce you to A Quiet Window
Hi A Quiet, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been an artist my whole life, but the Covid experience of 2020 got me to focus on art full time. Life slowed down a bit and gave me a chance to reassess my life and what I really wanted to do.
In this new slower phase of life I was able to observe the subtle shifts in the earth and sky more, sitting quietly outside or at my window. I realized so many details that I never had before and felt inspired to paint not just what I saw, but what I felt while viewing the amazing beauty of nature. Painting flowing and changing skies and landscapes lead me to painting flowers and so much more.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Making art has always been pretty easy for me. I am not too self conscious when I paint and have always been pretty good with color and composition. It brings me peace and joy when I am in the process of painting.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am primarily a painter whose preferred medium is acrylic paints and acrylic inks. I do enjoy photography and other mediums and hope to do more with those in the future.
It is hard for me to say what sets me apart from others, but I do know that when people are in my studio/gallery viewing my art I constantly get the same reactions and feedback on my art which is the following:
“Your art is so peaceful”. “ Your art is so soothing”. “ Your art is so cheerful”. I am always happy to hear these comments because that is how I want my viewers to feel and I am quite proud that I was able to create art that people feel good looking at.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think creating art and putting yourself out there continuously is risky, especially if you are not thick skinned or good at taking criticism.
As an artist one must take risks. I take risks in my paintings and sometimes they work out and sometimes they don’t but hey… it’s just paint… any “mistakes” can be painted over or reworked until they fit.
