Daily Inspiration: Meet Amanda B. Perry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda B. Perry.

Hi Amanda B., please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always loved music and songwriting. I grew up in a very musical home, and have written songs since I was around 11 years old. I feel that music has followed me throughout my life whether I was fully participating in a musical career or not. A playlist of love songs and stories are always being collected throughout my years. In 2019, I took the leap of performing again, after taking a few years off. I joined a songwriters group on Facebook called “The Singer Songwriters Songwriting Challenge Group” And that gave me even more drive to start sharing my own music again. Since 2020 I have released 3 full length studio albums and 2 singles. I perform in and around the twin cities at local venues and some big fabulous stages as well! It is a dream to share my music with the world, and that is what I continue to strive for .

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Music has always brought joy to my life, and can absolutly be the comfort that I need in a tough time. Struggles as a performer always seem to be, the juggling act of time betweeen creating this dream of performing, and the less exciting real life job/career, and making sure that I am 100% here for my family as well. The time split can be a lot.. But it has seemed to be worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer-songwriter and I like to say I am a pianist, but its not that serious.. I play the chords that my voice needs to sing along with! I specialize in songs from the heart, be it a love song, or a life story that can connect with so many others. I believe that the melodies and lyrics that I write, have a way of pulling on the collaborative heart string! I am so very proud of the albums that I have released. The collaboration of so many incredible artists, producers, and engineers all working together with my music, is an absolute joy and true life accomplishment. I believe that although I consider myself a Pop/Americana artist… my eclectic style sets me apart from others. I don’t like to sit in one specific genre of music for too long. In my latest album “List of Lovers” you will hear music stylings from pop, bluegrass, rock, digital, even some latin flair! I love to dabble in a lot of diffferent sounds.

How do you define success?
I define success as being able to look at the path behind me and being able to say I wouldn’t change too much about that! Which is so far how I see things for myself. Fame is not what I aspire to, but the ability to have had anyone outside of my close circle be able to listen to music that I have written and performed, and have an emotional reaction to it. That is a success for me.
