Daily Inspiration: Meet Amber Cross

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Cross.

Amber, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into design began back in my early teen years. Like many, I started off playing around with Microsoft Paint and customizing MySpace pages for friends, even dabbling in coding without realizing it. I also loved creating those online pixel dolls that were super popular back then—it was my first real taste of creativity.

Although I didn’t fully understand what graphic design was at the time, those experiences sparked something in me. It wasn’t until 2021 that I officially stepped into the world of graphic design. I was inspired by one of my favorite YouTubers, KyLashai, who was offering a design course. I enrolled—and I’ve been designing ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth journey. I’ve rebranded my business multiple times, taken breaks, and even considered walking away from design altogether. There were moments when I doubted if I’d ever find success in this industry.

One of my biggest challenges has been the desire to succeed and share my talents, while feeling like the recognition and steady clients just weren’t coming. But despite it all—I’m still here, still designing, and still pushing forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m the designer behind The CreateHer Studios, a boutique branding studio that helps women entrepreneurs bring their vision to life through strategic branding and high-impact visuals. I specialize in full brand strategy, logo design, and digital assets for platforms like Wix and Shopify. I’m known for creating bold, feminine, conversion-focused brands that not only look good—but also work hard behind the scenes to attract the right audience and drive results.

What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come, especially as a self-taught designer who started with passion and turned it into a business that empowers other women. I’ve rebranded, pivoted, and pushed through doubt—and now I get to help my clients show up confidently and professionally in their businesses.

What sets me apart is that I’m not just focused on the visuals—I take the time to understand the strategy behind the brand. I combine my creative eye with intention and purpose, making sure every design decision aligns with my client’s goals. And as a Black female designer, I bring a culturally aware and empowering perspective to everything I create.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would love to connect with more female led business owners throughout the state of Minnesota.
