Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Vuleta-Jensen.
Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Originally from Croatia, my mom, dad, sister and I moved to the United States just over 20 years ago. I have had the privilege of seeing my parents work to achieve the “American dream” by starting their own businesses. Their entrepreneurship and willingness to take chances in life has inspired me to do the same in my career path, though I tried to run from it for a long time. When it came time to choose my career, I chose stability and the safe option. I went to school to obtain my bachelor’s degree in graphic design and received a 9-5 job right after graduating. In the next 7 years, I sat behind a computer screen in a cubicle hoping that my professional accomplishments would fulfill my long-term career aspirations.
But in 2020, the biggest blessing in disguise happened. I was laid off from my job. While I was on maternity leave, my employer kept telling me that I can’t be a full-time mom and a full-time employee and be successful. 45 days after I returned from my leave, I was laid off. At the time I was distraught, I built a name for myself and accomplished a tremendous amount of things while working there. I started a magazine, I worked with PR agencies and news channels, I managed all social accounts, did all the graphic design work, photography, event planning and so much more. But what I didn’t realize is that this journey prepared me to start my own business. So even though I lost my job because I became a mother, it was the biggest blessing and the start of my future.
So as much as I wanted to run from entrepreneurship, it caught up to me and at the most perfect time. My journey is to be a business owner, it is to make a difference and help others, it is to lead a team and make them succeed professionally and personally. I now own Be Bold Agency, a digital marketing and graphic design business dedicated to helping businesses elevate their brands. I’m proud to be an immigrant-woman-business-owner that stepped outside the comfort zone to create a future that my hard working parents wanted for their daughters.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Knock on wood, but Be Bold Agency has developed very smoothly and efficiently. I now have a growing cliental list that I am so proud of. Being able to elevate their brands and take ownership of their marketing executions is such a fulfilling feeling because I know I am part of the reason that their business is growing. Being able to help people succeed is exactly what I wanted and the reason I started this agency.
I would say the only struggle I have is that I am so focused on my client work that Be bold Agency branding and marketing ends up being low on the list, as I’m sure many business owners would relate. I am going to start exploring options of hiring a position to solely focus on the Be Bold Agency brand.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in marketing strategies and development and graphic design. I love creating content calendars for social media, email marketing and blog posts. I truly believe that consistency and a strong brand voice will make you achieve your goals. Nowadays, a lot of marketing is centered around social media, if you have a strong presence, you provide yourself with the advantage of finding new consumers or opportunities. But that is something a lot of business owners do not have time for or understand how to do, so that is where I step in!
Where I think I set myself apart is that I also do the graphic design piece and photography. Another big component to growing your following and exposure is to continue adhering to your brand. With my design background, I can develop marketing strategies with beautiful content curated to the business’s brand.
I also like to tell my clients that I am not here to push my style, I am here to enforce their style. So with that said, I am very proud of all the brand development work I’ve done such as logo creation, brand standards, promotional materials. I have created brand work for security companies, boutiques, insurance agencies, banking industries, etc. They are all drastically different but I love the challenge!
How do you think about happiness?
The list is long, but here are some…
1. Watching my son Luka learn new things every day. He’s turning 2 at the end of June and he has been the biggest blessing to not only my husband and I but to our families.
2. Speaking of husband, we are going on 5 years of marriage and 10 years of togetherness and he is truly everything my enneagram 8 ever needed. He’s patient, loving and so supportive, I am so lucky!
3. My family is everything. We speak every single day, all day long and see each other multiple times a week, even though they live an hour away.
4. Cooking. In a dream world, I would be a traveling chef that explores the world and learns new recipes every day! I love to cook so much!
5. Traveling is something I am so grateful for. I have been to multiple countries and all over the United States and every single time I am just so thankful to experience new cultures and…food.
