Today we’d like to introduce you to Armani Battle.
Hi Armani, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
for as long as i can remember, ive been a creative whether thats drawing, dancing, fashion, writing, singing or content creation. as a child i spent alot of time alone and so creating art was my outlet and how i expressed myself. I always had dreams of being a big star but growing up i never felt like i fit anywhere and dealt with low self esteem. Its ironic that im a model now. i originally wanted to be a vet but as i grew more into myself i became fascinated with the idea of becoming a model at 15 and at 16 asked for my mother permission to become one. She said she wanted me to wait until i was 18. And on my 18th birthday i competed in a modeling compition which was sent to me by my grandmother who has always been my biggest supporter. The modeling competition took place in los angles california. I was terrifed but extremly excited and motivated. While there i met my wonderful mother agents and signed with them a few days later. That was in 2024 since then i have been consistently working towards perfecting my craft and im now signed in new york.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t. As with most careers in the entertainment industry, there’s a lack of consistey a model life is unpredictable, so adjusting to that definitely took some getting used to. As a model i also deal with comparing my journey and looks to other models from time to time as it hard not to in a career where you make your living based off your looks. The industry is constantly changing and becoming more inculsive but as a open queer black male model its been interesting navigating where i fit in this industry ive definitely have met some ignorant people which then causes me to get in my head about my identity, then i wonder if i should be less bold and proud but i never will listen to that thought. due to the unpredictability of modeling ive definitely thought of quitting but i never will. My soul craves this and i dont see my self doing anything else.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a little bit of everything but i am known primarliy for my modeling, art and content creation. I am a signed model in new york city and my mother agency is based out of the west coast. im most intrested in runway modeling and in the beginning of this year i participated in my first new york fashion week where i walked my first show which was incredibly exciting and affirming and i would say thats what i most proud of modeling wise. Art and content creation is another passion of mine. ive been creating visual art since i was very young its always been one of my favorite ways of self expression especially when i dont always have the words to descibe the way i feel. i lean towrds creating more absract, contemporary, surrealism art. i work with a wide varitey of mediums but my main are arcylic paints, pasca pens, digital arts and black ink pen. content creation is also something ive been doing for a while as-well. i created my first youtube channel and instagram account at 10 years old. I now make content about my modeling. I also record the behind the scenes of my creative process with my visual arts. I also make content styling videos aswell. i believe what sets me apart from others is my fluidity in my style and my out of the box thinking and creativity and authenticity.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say persistence is the most important quality to my success. i have many goals and interests, including art, modeling, music, and becoming an art director, so there will be times when things dont go as planned. Persistence allows me to keep going instead of giving up when i face challenges or setbacks. i know that success doesnt happen over night and i have to be willing to continue learning and improving. Even when i doubt myself, i want to remind myself why i started and keep working toward the person i want to become. i believe that if i stay persistent i will eventually create opportunities for myself to reach my goals.
